Do you still use a .357 SIG pistol or have you abandoned that too?
MP5s are probably more drop safe than every striker fired pistol on the planet, except maybe the VP70.
Excellent.
Obviously I don’t know much about the HK sear arrangement. Except that “lightening” the trigger pull can be dangerous.
Yep, there is a reason those Williams set triggers are something you have to be careful with. HK triggers are a tad heavy for just that reason. But honestly other than floating firing pins in some firearms (certain AK variants), the only thing you really have to be careful with are open bolt design SMGs and people who have tuned their sniper rifle triggers down to 2 lbs. or less.
But out of battery slam fires are more likely than drop fires in most of these cases. I’ve only seen one firearm drop fire in my life and it was an RPB open bolt semi auto M-10. With the firing pin basically milled on the front of the bolt I watched somebody fumble one and the disconnector failed and let one fly. Seen almost a dozen out of battery slam fires, usually with an impressive kaboom, including one IMI .308 Galil Arm. Made me a huge fan of Polytech AKs and their spring loaded firing pins.
The pistol is great, I carry the 6 inch Glock 35 almost every day and when I am not carrying it a Glock 32 is being carried.
As long as I can buy Leight Defense in 357sig that tops 2000fps, in the USA that will be my carry guns.
I currently have at MK3 forearms a 40 Hi Power that will get a 357sig and 9mm KKM barrel as part of the build.

Great ad!
If it’s based on a Sig 320 it’s a hard “Hell no”.
The demonstration videos I’ve seen are mixed on the FLUX.
They do. Performance (speed and accuracy) is irrelevant of context.
To steyers point. Same person, same training would be better with a pcc, marginally. The individuals skill is a much more important factor than gear.
They make it for the P365 as well. Travis Haley posted an Instagram video with him shooting one from appendix carry …

I think the gap in individual performance between equally trained/practiced PCC and pistol users is larger with with beginners than experts, and grows/shrinks with distance.
And yes, gun games have relevance.
I did some playing around with PDW fitment in a carry device (packs), state of readiness, and time to get into action. (starting from the bag worn and zippered shut)
The length needs to be pretty short to pack well, About 15 inches long max. Weight matters but it’s not a major consideration. Height matters alot, width only slightly less important. Getting it back into concealment is important to me, too.
The AP5K bare muzzle, 15 rd mag, folded brace, with an optic, is as tall, long, and wide as can be for this purpose IMO. It averaged about 4 seconds to get on target starting with a round in the chamber, safety on, brace folded. 6 seconds total extending the brace. Very shootable with the brace and RDS. The same would go for any 4-5 inch AR type gun in a pistol caliber but those aren’t as drop safe.
the Vz-61 with brace (or a stock already extended is just a couple inches too long but with no optic, being flat, and not being tall it’s a much easier draw. But it starts without a round chambered, safety off. On average it only beat the AP5K by about a half-second on average, and there is always the risk of screwing up racking the bolt. However, once that is done the brace / stock can be utilized because it’s already out. But there is no optic.
An option I don’t have but could be explored, if the desire is more power and range, is a magnum revolver with a large RDS. Fast into action, not very tall or wide, not too long, not too heavy. But no stock, cheek rest, or suppressor option and low capacity. Muzzle blast becomes a concern, load dependent. Less scary looking to a potential jury, perhaps.
I can see a great option simply being a second, full size pistol using the same magazines as your primary sidearm, with an RDS appropriate for longer distances.
I think it would be easier / faster to just start with your EDC handgun and transition to your PDW when the opportunity presents.
Good idea.
No time, sidearm, have a few seconds, PDW.
Back in the day, if I was off duty and needed to go to Judea, Samaria, Gaza, a lot of times I would bring a mini or micro Uzi closed bolt. I would put the strap around my neck with the gun muzzle down between my legs.
I was in my jeep one night going on the by pass road past a arab town when my drivers side window shattered with a stone. My gut told me to hit the brakes, which I did slowing down just as a second arab popped up with a molotov. I was able to use the Uzi to good effect.
Hit harder than 9mm? How 'bout .40 S&W, 10mm, or even 45AARP?
I agree with this 100%. Anything more than 16", folded, is too long to easily carry around.
I can’t see any sense in a barrel longer than 6", like an MP5K or Kuna: just enough to get a hand on the forend.
I live in California, so I can forget a suppressor.
Also, it would make the gun long and bulky… See above.
If a PDW, then weight and recoil are non-issues, and then I can’t see why people pick 9mm.
And a folding/telescoping brace/stock is an obvious “yes,” isn’t it?
Only if you think you’re going to be attacked by a water buffalo…
I have a S&W 610 with a 6" barrel that I re-chambered for 10mm Magnum.
It’s a lot of fun at the range shooting .40 Trail Boss loads (new shooters LOVE it). I like the idea of carrying it in bear country, too.
Otherwise its weight and bulk is like an MP5K or Kuna, but it only holds six rounds…
Taking my AP5P with me during some “riot days” earlier this year i didn’t like how heavy it was.
The 30 rd mag was troublesome in a “regular looking” backpack. It really hung up. The 15 rd mag was fit far better. Three 30 rd mags made the whole package heavier & because of that slightly less “grey man”. “Whatever is in that pack sure seems heavy.”
The ammo was 147 gr JHP in the gun and 124 in the spare mags.
I’ll take the VZ61 next time now that it has a folding brace, optic, see through backup sights, and a non-vertical foregrip. It and spare mags are pounds lighter & it has a much better trigger.
I need to see how it shoots a bit further out. 50 yds, anyway.
It’s a mini rifle. Its for short distance. It uses a pistol cartridge to keep the action short. 9mm subs suppress very well, much better than .45acp for me.
As for why vs a pistol? A pistol is not easy to shoot. A pdw is extremely easy to shoot. Like easier than a carbine.
I don’t think conceal ability is part of a pdw mission. Its just about being less bulk to drag around or to be able to fit in a vehicle or aircraft cockpit easily.
I agree, but for use by the general public, me, concealability / discretion is very important.
