What happened to Aimpoint M4/M4S? Also, general M4S question.

I’ve noticed a distinct lack of M4/M4S talk lately, and I don’t think I’ve seen a pic of an M4/M4S posted in awhile now.

Did the T1 till off all the other Aimpoints?

Also, is there an absolute co-witness QD mount for the M4S?

I love my M4S.

Larue makes an absolute co-witness QD mount, though the stock mount is relatively QD, it’s not a throw lever but it’s got a big screw knob that makes it pretty quick.

Mines in a larue side lever mount…
love it…
last time I shot it at distance …

75 gr tap in my colt 6940…

6 shots - 3 in… 200 yds…measured…both the yards and the group…
from prone with a grip pod…

did I mention an aimpoint m4s?
aimpoint… 3 in group at 200… cool…

In a word? Price.

The advantages the M4 offer are incremental at best for most users. Proprietary batteries are not an issue when you can leave the optic on for a year and change the battery once a year. NV settings are a non-issue for those without the other hardware. Mounting system improvement isn’t really an issue for the kind of use most get.

and then there’s the Micros…

The C3, and now maybe the PRO, just makes more sense for most commercial and LE users.

Agree.

The M4s may be the best-in-class selection for conventional Aimpoints, but the price of admission is rather steep when you consider that the same basic capability is available in the M2/M3/PRO line for far less. The T1 has siphoned off a significant portion of the market, but there are still many shooters who prefer the full-size solution.

If the M4s was $150 cheaper, it would be an obvious choice, but it is admittedly difficult to justify spending $700/750+ for a non-magnified RDS when there are so many alternatives – even within the Aimpoint line – that won’t run anywhere near that high, even with a quality aftermarket mount.

If you’re buying a M3 and a mount then the M4S is really close in price.
The M4/M4S Aimpoints are the most rugged ones they make I also prefer the M4 and M4S when using a magnifier. Magnifiers work with all Aimpoints but with Micros it’s weirds out my eyes.

The T1 and H1 certainly seem far more popular. I recently sold off my T1 and went back to an M4s. For me, the durability, battery life, and use of AA battery are what swayed me back to the M4s. The price of admission is far higher than the other options, but it is as bomb proof an optic as you can get right now. Like others have pointed out, the problem for the M4/M4s is there are more practical alternatives within the Aimpoint line.

Every online “popularity” contest between AP Micro and M4 that I’ve seen was one by T-1 at 2:1 ratio, whatever the reasons (price, size etc) were. Throw in devout Eotech users, and available market share becomes small for M4.
OEM QRP2 mount offers absolute co-witness, is de-facto QD, and for me has always returned to zero without any issues. I run one M4s on QRP2, and another one on LaRue mount.

I wonder how many combos “weird out” peoples eyes? I know EOTechs just don’t jive with my eyes but a red dot does.

I run an M4s with a Bobro QD mount, and I see no reason to change… Yeah, they cost a penny or two more but, the absolute ruggedness coupled with the common availability of replacement power sources and extended battery life makes the difference. I have always subscribed to the “Buy once-Cry once” ethos on any hard use gear.

I love my M4S, but the micros are taking over as my favorite RDS. I do like the fact that there are clear lens flip up covers for the M4s as well. If only Aimpoint would do the same for the T/H-1 models, I’d be in micro heaven.

Weight…once you run the T-1, it’s tough to run any other rds sight.

Roger makes a solid point about lack of real lens covers for the T-1’s, but it’s just a gripe for me.

I had a couple of T1’s sold/ traded for a total 6 of the M4s, just liked it better, recently jumped on the Tr24 bandwagon, now I have 4 of those, and 2 of the M4s models.

If you want a AA powered optic, it’s the best one. I still have mine for my NV kitted rifle because I want to try the larger tube, but at this point, with the price of the PRO (it’s going to take over a century for the price difference between them to equal the price of lithium batteries). It’s nice knowing I could use only AA batteries for one rifle (which has a PEQ2, PVS14, M4S), but I’d rather run 123A’s through a DBAL, M300 Scout, and 1/3N through a micro if I’m walking around with that rifle.

I’m not totally wild about the killflash, but for me the weight has been the deciding factor - the T1 does enough of the same things in a lighter package.

I anted up for an M4s after discovering that my poor vision caused issues with EOtechs. I love the M4s. IMO the field of view is just as good as an EOtech and the battery life is astounding. It was indeed a hard hit on my wallet but it was an excellent buy.

i have an M4S on a larue QD and love it. I do wish it was lighter but it gets the job done.

I was recently trying to figure out weather I wanted to go with a TR24, M4S or T1… after trying all of them I went with the T1.

My rifle is primarily a home defense weapon, after that I dont see my self making 500 yd shots all day. I’m used to using Eotechs and I really liked the way that the T1 just seemed to dissapear when shooting both eyes open. It’s lite and compact. I’m not really concerned about batteries as I can manage to buy a CR2032 once a year. The T1 was lighter, less obtrusive and less expensive than an M4.

I REALLY liked the TR24 and will most likely get one down the road to put on a RECCE rifle if Trijicon will make them with a doughnut reticle and target turrets.

They are big and heavy. So the interest has dropped off a lot.

I am told that Aimpoint CANNOT MAKE ENOUGH T-1’s.

C4

I have an M4s and several T1’s. I bought the M4s first and it’s a great optic. I will not be replacing the M4s, but I also won’t buy anymore.

I have a M4s inbound right now. I was presuaded by it’s ruggedness, battery life and AA battery source. It will be replacing a ML2 on my Colt. I grew tired of trying to locally find batteries for the ML2, the ML2 now resides on my M&P 15-22;)

I ordered it from Larue as a package with their tall mount.
