TN cop gets canned for lying

Specifically, lying to his superiors about his sex life. This is somewhat similar to the incident a couple of years back near Nashville where 1 female cop was having sex with numerous male cops with the only one admitting to it not getting fired.

It’s interesting because in many(perhaps most) areas of the country a cop lying with the goal of wrongfully fining or convicting a private citizen is at least tolerated if not effectively encouraged.

In this case(like the 1 female cop sexcapade agency) the “victim” of the lying is the feels of the superiors. Dude could have lied to them about this everyday and twice on Sunday and only their egos would be bruised.

As White points out, the defense that he should be allowed to stay in to mentor kids and not understanding the question asked is amusing

No interest in watching your video, but I appreciate you giving a synopsis of the events.

You are incorrect in your assertion that police are encouraged to lie in many or most areas. There are very few departments that would accept that sort of behavior, never mind encourage it. I have no doubt there are plenty of supervisors who don’t actively get involved in cases so they can’t be help liable or pulled into court on their days off, but that certainly isn’t the same thing.

Lying in your capacity as a police officer gets you fired AND your commission pulled in most states.

There shouldn’t be any need for Brady/Giglio lists if that were the case.

There are also plenty of videos that bear little to no resemblance to officers’ written/verbal narratives of the incidents, but the officers involved do not get fired.

Lying isnt a problem.

New Jersey cop lies about what his victim said, lies about his victim’s hands shaking, lies about not hoping to find narcotics, etc, etc.

Cops shine a light in a deaf guy’s eyes and deaf guy hurts their feelings so they go in to chimp mode and beat the shit out of him to retaliate.

More lying in the written version of the incident with the additional highlight of telling a deaf guy he needs to listen.

Looks like Mississippi is another state ok with cops lying, in this case to justify a shooting. Also features the trooper grossly exceeding the speed limit and has his badge bunny in tow in her jammies.

Mississippi again, a cop lying in court is fine. Officer Dickerson even states his version of events is more accurate than audio/video footage of what occurred.

I don’t know diddly about Cops, but I’ve talked with Guys I was in combat with and it’s not unusual to get two wildly different stories from two different people who are 100 meters apart sometimes.
Now if you are obviously telling a lie to get yourself off of the hook or to self promote, you need another job,
But not having the same story as someone else who was there is pretty common.

The cops and their body cameras aren’t 100 meters apart.

The cops’ written/oral versions of an incident adhere to a scenario that would make their actions lawful while the audio/video record shows their actions to not be lawful.

I was watching a Video of an arrest that resulted in the Cops camera coming off during the arrest do to some ground fighting.
I don’t know a lot about body camera’s on Cops except not all of them wear them and apparently they can come off in a fight.

I would however agree they seem to have worked out well for everyoine concerned who’s on the right side of the Law.
I’m also willing to bet that even if you want to tell the truth, at best we will get your version of it and hope the camera backs you up.

Another incident where I am wrong about police being encouraged to lie.

Maine state police create a fictional work of literature which secures one of the troopers his first promotion in 16 years.
