It has nothing at all to do with ‘looking different than me’, i.e. someone who is taller, shorter, has blond hair, different nationality, religion, etc. etc.
It has to do with whether or not any person has a green mohawk, and/or face piercings and tattoos, to which simple practical reason can be applied to establish the person as emotionally and/or psychologically immature or damaged, or perhaps a self-centered narcissist and exhibitionist, someone who makes breathtakingly stupid decisions, and on and on.
Whether you like it or not, whether you agree with it or not, it is a fact that “body modification” is simply nothing other than self-mutilation. And self-mutilation always, 100% of the time, means the person is not mentally or emotionally well.
As another poster said: tattoos were a military tradition until recently.
You cannot in any way compare the puerile exhibitionist moronic stupidity of today’s young group think tattoo/piercing culture with the reasons and motivations of combat vets. That is like comparing the reasons why Chris Kyle had guns to the reason why James Holmes had guns.
You kinda missed the x ring on that one. People get tattoos for many different reasons, a lot of them are never intended to see the light of day outside of going to the beach, if that. To say that people who get visible or not tattoos because they a fragile little snowflake artsy fartsy people who want you to know how “different” they are
is the same kind of broken, cosmopolitan magazine physiology that equates owning and carrying scary guns or driving lifted bro-dozers means one must be compensating for something.
Amazing how people who don’t “get” things, own, have, use, understand, etc etc usually have little knowledge of nor personally like said things.
Full sleeves are def a mil and further more sea going tradition. Port calls “getting stewed, screwed and tattoo’d” where the norm. Dudes doing on floats in the east islands area knew they could get great work done for cheap, just pool some money to pitch in for doc to get some work done, and he’ll make sure the place is legit so you don’t get the HIV:thumbdown: I seen plenty of senior guys around who had full sleeves before the policy came out. A lot units still didn’t care and wouldn’t even take pictures for SRB entries and know that the MC is sleeves down 100%,guys would get work done in the fall so buy the time charlie season came, the work didn’t look fresh.
I’ve talked to a couple employers about this topic from Leo agencies to the make up counter in the mall(some chick had an amazing shoulder piece) and they all pretty much said they judge the tattoos just like the person, if the tattoos arnt depicting racism, sexism etc etc and look professionally done(not whether you personally like them) then they are GTG.
Too bad this ramble line of bias isn’t supported by any well respected peer reviewed data, but probably your own set of facts with disparate evidence collected from the same fringe websites you get all your hyper religious ramblings from.
I completely disagree about being mentally/emotionally unstable. I know many many people that have tats to “enhance their bodies.” They love their bodies and want to make them more beautiful. (i’m sure that you’ll say that’s a mental case, but it’s really not).
I got my wolverines tat on my leg a) because i love the original red dawn, and b) because it’s a reminder to live free. I got my mjolnir as a symbol of faith and the lore behind it. I got one of my dragons with the viking compass when I was going through a rough patch, to remind me to always keep moving foward and to toe the line, never back down (that’s one of two that are visible). I got my second nordic dragon just because (and quite frankly i wished i hadn’t).
I grow my beard in honor of my ancestors and for my faith.
Tell me again how that’s being mentally or emotionally unstable?
the most recent picture of me. and yes. i know i need to drop 30 pounds. you try running in a high call volume and the only thing you have time to eat is shitty mcshitty shit.
This is aimed at Bellocs post you quoted. I put him on ignore but I can see the quote you made.
I am not a big fan of tats but to say people who have tats are mentally ill is stupidity at its finest. All I can say is wow just wow strike up another one for the morality police.
Pat
Exactly. I’ve always qualified my posts with the term “aggressive” tattoos or piercings. A little common sense is all that is needed to understand what aggressive means. However, for those who may be confused, tattoos that can be covered with a collared shirt are not aggressive.
Take a look at the dipshit that I previously posted with the “Got Beer” tattoo on his forehead and UNC Tar Heal on his face (another proud alumnus). That is what I’m talking about. I’d also include anyone with metal on anyplace other than their ear (some exceptions are made for men with earrings or females with small nose piercings).
As usual you are misstating his quote. He is referring to body modification such as tattoos and piercings on the face. And yes, most of those people have deep personality disorders.
So a girl with a nose stud has deep personality issues.
Some people need to learn tolerance. There is no way to misstate what he posted it was utter nonsense.
I think part of the problem is you jump in the middle of the thread without reading all of the posts. This ground was covered and I even specifically mentioned your example on this page. Small nose studs in a female are not what we are talking about and is not body modification - especially if it is part of a Hindu cultural observance. Nose rings or bars through the septum, well now we are talking about someone who didn’t get enough attention from daddy. I’m sorry if that happens to be your daughter.

This is just ignorant. People will use the “didnt get held enough” thing for all sorts of bullshit. I’ve had sweater vest clad, double cell phone holstered basketball fans try to claim that skateboarding or FMX is a sign you have mental problems but motocross racing is perfectly fine. How many times have you heard “anyone who jumps out of a perfectly good airplane is nuts!”. I guess the Maori people where all suffering from left in the crib-itis with their surfing and crazy face tattoos.
True but I doubt he cares. Every single one of my female friends wants to jump him, and these are high-class, polished, good looking women who are normally pretty reserved.
