so everyone is a shooter but?

So everyone is a shooter but does anyone to any “PT” to keep up if your being shot at? and what do you guys do for “PT”?

I worked very hard to make sure I’m a better shot than 98% of the rest of humans. I hope I don’t get in a shootout with that other 2%.

Crossfit. It works.

According to the photos in this thread, not much if any is done!

Looks like they are living well…

I ride and occasionally get to race my mountain bike or my cyclocross bike. I ride my road bike mostly but rarely race these days. I also run and lift.

+1 to crossfit

30 min weights and 30-45 min cardio a couple times a week at the local Gold’s.

I used to lift heavy, but know after some years, aches and pains, go more for med weight and more reps. I usually follow with a few miles on the treadmill or my prefered eliptical as it’s easier on my knees.

I must admit that since I got out of the Army 18 months ago, and having quit smoking a year ago, I have become unhappy with my level of physical fitness. After being somewhat lax on PT for some time and gaining more weight than I would have liked, I am working back into a PT program. I am running 3 times a week 3-5 miles followed by about 45 minutes in the gym hitting the weights and some calisthenics. Seems to be working.

While in the Army I participated, and lead, daily PT consisting of fixed Calisthenics one day, and running the next. We also mixed in road marches of 6-12 miles with 50lb ruck sacks and weapons, and combatives. I also usually hit the gym on my own 3 times a week. While deployed I weight trained and did calisthenics 6 days a week as running was an impossibility (high sniper activity in my area). I almost always hit the extended scale on the Army PT standard, ah the glory days!

I substituted PT with a healthy diet of carrots and deer meat. Gives me the ability to see great distances, leap high fences…down side is the urge to rub my head on trees.

+1…wait… what??? :stuck_out_tongue:

For “PT” I do “running” sometimes on a “road” and “weight training” both “lower body” and “upper body” in a “gym” and “get” on a “cardio machine” while “watching” TV. I also “drive” to “a nearby city” and learn “Gracie Jiu Jitsu” and even some “boxing” when I can “make time” and “afford gas.”

Mostly I am a practitioner of the ancient redneck martial art, Chik-Chik Pao. But yeah, a five-figure arsenal and tons of ammo and a wall full of training certificates, without keeping in some semblance of physical fitness, inspires what I call “cognitive dissonance.”

… and high blood pressure, diabetes, cancer, stroke, cardiac arrest …

How about swimming?

PT, yes…

Lots of swimming, biking, and running. One of my hobbies is doing triathlons. Funny thing is, I am much better shape now than when I was in the Navy.

Swimming’s the best thing you can do for yourself.

Who needs to be in shape when you have the high ground and good sniper rifle?

The PMC company I am part of probably has the highest PT standards of any other PMC I know of. Even the Blackwater guys think we are crazy. Our current test is very simple. Run two miles with full body armor, mags, rifle and pistol, helmet, etc (55 pounds) in under 22:30 minutes. Not as easy as you may think.

Those who fail get 30 days to pass it or they are fired…

I weight train and have just started conditioning with a kettlebell. The kettlebell is showing me what bad condition I am currently in.

If you like kettlebells you will love crossfit. Check it out.
