Sneak Peek of the Daniel Defense 7.62

After 10,000 rounds of live fire, the 7.62 release date draws near!

Looks good. It’s all gonna come down to pricing though.

If DD does this right I think they could really take over the 7.62 market, but as Buford said it will all come down to pricing. I expect it to be in the 2500$ area though unfortunately.

Agreed. They’ll likely price it about there. If they kept it below $1600, they would instantly own the AR10 market.

I think that will prove difficult due to the higher cost of the 308 components. I do know one thing though, DD will get it right the first time.

I’d be in at $1600, but I’d bet street price will be comfortably above $2000. I don’t need one that bad, but it does look pretty nice.

At $1600 they would sell like hotcakes but that would be in the same range as their 5.56/300BO and I don’t see that happening. They’ll sell enough of them at a higher price. As much as I would like one I can’t justify the price enough for just a fun gun when my DDV5 covers the ranges that I have around here. Although, I’m almost tempted to just buy one before the prices inevitably go up.

If they can pull off 1,750-2,000 I’ll most likely put off getting a can. If they get 1-1/4 MOA or better with match ammo.

If it’s under 2k, I’m in. Been waiting for this to hit the market.

I thought I read a few months ago MSRP of $2,700, so $2,500 early on should be about right, I’m betting the non panic street price will eventually settle down to around $2,200-2,300 if it does indeed have a $2,700 MSRP.

I’m digging the rail/receiver attachment method. I’d love to see that in 556 offering.

Where can one find the detailed explanation of components used in this 7.62 offering?

Looks kinda strange to see a forward assist on it…at least I think I saw one on it. Most 7.62 AR’s don’t have one.

I’m interested in learning more. Could be a real winner.

The last issue of Recoil has some specs. http://www.recoilweb.com/magazine/issue-19/

The MSRP mentioned in that issue is $2,700.

The weight at the listed 8.3 lbs is very attractive as well as the receiver rail interfac, and the dual ejectors as well.

Quoted from Recoil Issue 19, “Using threaded steel inserts in the upper a full profile flange is sandwiched by the rail and clamped by four grade 8 bolts that pass through bosses on the hand guard. By doing so, its bearing surface is increased more than 40%…”

Any idea if the barrel is melonited or chrome lined? Is only the bolt release ambi, or can you also hold the bolt open on the right side?

Looks like a bolt release only to me, unless they are using the mag release as a bolt catch like AXTS/AX556. No reason DD couldn’t melonite the barrel as they have the capability, would be nice if it is melonite. It would also be nice if there is an M-lok version as well.

Dickmod ruined it for me. If they had a 1913 or M-LOK rail, I’d be salivating!

You mean to tell me that you don’t like the c*ck-and-ball motive?

Neither it, nor the motif.
