Anyone have any insight on these. Forgive me if someones started another thread about it but i did try the search function. It looks like a decent rifle. I wonder if Sig actually makes them or if someone else does and they put their name on it.

I will continue to carry my 226 for duty but just cant seem to convince my self on any of their new rifles.
I have to counter the above post about their CS, for me they have been oustanding. When I made the mistake of buying a 250 they were there everytime I had issues and always payed for shipping both ways. I had a magazine on my backup 239 dinged up during training and they replaced it free of cost.
With the absolute sh!t being put out by SIG these days, I have no confidence that this rifle will live up to their dwindling legacy.
They didn’t even index the carry handle correctly for the photos.
It is nice to see that the lower has built in QD sockets and ambi features. I have no idea about the quality of the individual components, can’t recommend or condemn, but if the lower was priced right I might be down.
Do you have any first hand experience with Sig Sauer?
I think it will be a great rifle. I’ve heard nothing but glowing reviews of the 516. Concerning SIG CS, I have nothing but good things to say. I have a P226 that required a new rear sight, SIG paid shipping both ways and had my gun back in less than a week, and I’ve had several magazines over the years that have been replaced free of charge.
The lone fact that a second 10 rd magazine for my wife’s Mosquito costs $46 has kept me away from Sig.

Who cares about the Sig, did a brief look at their website and could find few details concerning the quality of the rifle. It did not have any information on the barrel steel, BCG, HP/MPI testing, etc… For the price I would just buy a Colt, DD, BCM, LMT, or even a Spikes. All of these rifles are a known quanity and have readily stated the specs of their carbines.
Yes, of course. Fortunately everything I’ve used was 1990’s production. Have you read anything about their newest offerings? They are not the company they used to be.

Google for some reports on their Sh!tsquito 22lr pistol and how they like to sell sh!tty Aimpoint knock off RDS’s. Then for fun take a look at some current threads on their customer service.
All these things do not instill confidence in the “new” Sig brand.
I suggest taking a look at sigforum.com and talk to the members over there. They have been shooting Sigs constantly and probably have more knowledge then most people will have with Sig handguns and rifles. There you will get probably the best answer about the quality that Sig is turning out these days. That’s what I would recommend you do.
So you have never personally had a bad experience with a SIG Sauer firearm?
What type of barrel profile is that? Looks a little strange.
We have had two in our shop already, sold one within days of getting them. Everything is on par with the 516 and it seems the barrel is CHF 1/7, chrome lined. The retail price point is decent - around $995.
I do like the features of the lower - QD sockets (360 rotation though), a pseudo accuwedge and the ambi mag release.
The barrel does sport a non-M4 profile, not sure why they did that but since most of us aren’t mounting a M203 it seems to be a non issue.
I have no range report, but based on fit and finish as well as features it does look like a high quality non-milspec/TDP AR.
If anything, the lower would be a decent base for a custom build.
I for one was excited when Sig announced that they were getting into the AR game. I was hoping that Sig would bring some of that Teutonic precision to AR’s. I am an armorer for my agency for Sig, Remington, & Colt. I took the Sig course first and have been consistently disappointed with the other two and their liaise faire approach to parts replacement. As an armorer I love the fact that Sig specifies a periodic parts replacement schedule. I really hope that they come up w/ something like this for the AR!
The M400 looks okay. I think the 516 looks a bit more promising though. Time will tell.
ETA: I also have not had any bad experiences with Sigs customer service. I do deal primarily with their Mil/FLE sales/support folks though so that may help…
Wow… first person I’ve heard had this big a problem with Sigs. I agree they aren’t what they used to be but I am a member over on sig forum and after reading hundreds of peoples posts about their newer sigs as well as their experience with customer service, I’d say they are still a very good gun maker and company.
Anyway, I’m anxious to hear some range reports in the future. Like I said, the technical specs look good, all comes down to how it shoots though I suppose.
