You guys do know this is due to the school banning kids from wearing US flag t-shirts on cinco de mayo to school? The principal said he doing it for ‘student safety’.
Imagine for a second that kids threatened to beat up Mexican kids who came to school with Mexican flag t-shirts on President’s day or if they saw them on Independents Day.
I can’t believe the number of Yes - for student safety answers I see to the poll.
I’m an immigrant from the UK. When I first came to America in 2005, I was pleasantly surprised to see the American flag flying almost everywhere.
In the UK, the Union Jack or the Flag of St. George is sadly shunned and as such has become a banner of the far right. The police do not wear the flag, neither do Royal Mail, or any other “authority” figure, instead wearing the Crown.
As I believe, the Union Jack is on the UK army BDUs, but very small and, if memory serves right only when serving overseas.
I just hope and pray that this is just a shitty kid’s poll that doesn’t really matter. 
That’s a scary thought. I’m not sure I even want to think about it. Somethings gotta give eventually, all the tension that’s currently in this country isn’t gonna stay just below the surface forever. Eventually something will happen to cause the flood gates to rip open. Question is, what will it be? Whatever ends up happening I hope it’s for the best but somehow I doubt it. I’m an optimist too, that’s what scares me.
You know something is wrong with your country when this is even being discussed. Seriously.
How how have we gotten to the point that the mere presence of our own country’s flag can incite violence?
If any violence should ensue, it should be because of this dipshit of principal’s decision to take it down.
Had someone told me 10 years ago that this would even be discussed in the United States, I wouldn’t have believed it. :mad:
