Senate Ready To Eliminate The Filibuster

Maybe, but so far the Republican Party seems united against the insane bills the left is putting forward. HR1 and HR51 is about playing for keeps, it is blatantly obvious to everyone.

Y’all know why so many of Trump’s EOs and bills didn’t see the light of day? His was the most sued administrations, ever. These bills pass, HR1/51 or any other, sue so hard and in so many jurisdictions they’d go blind on paperwork. Make everything a constitutional case. It’ll be like a mind field: some might get through, but a lot won’t. #scorchedearth

Hey Strom Thurmond flipped parties, so I guess it’s possible for Manchin to do so. I just don’t see it happening, but stranger things have occurred.

I also wouldn’t put it past fvck-face Romney to switch to a Democrat if Manchin did that.

Well that would be a danger for sure, I don’t trust Romney at all.

And he’s not the only one. I half expect Murkowski to go D if she gets a good hard R primary…

Actually we lost the Republic and will now have democracy aka majority rules. And by the way, if you are on this forum, you are not part of the majority.

Been saying for years that we needed to shitcan McConnell and Ryan.

McConnell stands up…when he wants to. He, like a majority of Republicans, are awesome as a minority party; as an in-power party not so much. In fact, they kinda suck at it.

The question is, would he hold his seat? Utah voters may not like that.

He’s the second largest, self serving POS in the GOP. If we could arrest all the people who got us here, he’d be on death row.

They’re only opposing because their opposition will have no effect. Token move.

Bingo.

Romney for one, and probably others, are just waiting to see what Schumer offers up. Romney believes in everything the left has to offer. Look at his time as Gov. They’ll sell cheap.

Unfortunately half of Utah voters will vote for whomever their Bishop suggests.

Controlled opposition. Like the QAnon bullshit…“Oh, just wait, we’re gonna get em…don’t do anything rash, we have a Grand Plan…just get on the cars, we’re really gonna do something this time”. …

Very old thread but same subject.

I generally agree with Trump. Since the democrat party has morphed into a socialist party with the left wing unapologetically marxist/communists that literally hate America, I really don’t see much downside to republicans ending the filibuster now. At least the American voter will get a taste of what is possible without mindless senate democrats blocking everything with the filibuster, particularly the Save America Act in regard to the next election. I also think it likely that if democrats were to gain control they’d quickly end the filibuster for many of the reasons described below, and more. The two democrats, Sinema and Manchin, who stopped senate democrats from ending the filibuster last time are both gone.

Nope. Trump is dead wrong on this one. Legislation needs to be hard to pass, and the Senate isn’t intended to just be The House of Representatives part 2.

Eh, the demonrats will do it the first chance they get. They have to ensure the Repubes never get into power again.

I hear this every time and yet it doesn’t happen.

They are talking about adding 4 SCOTUS Judges, do you think they give a shit about the Filibuster?

They will do anything to make a comeback and seal that deal up forever.

And RINO dogshit-eaters like Thune refuse to see it, or worse are complicit because all they care about is their delusion that they’ll keep their piece of the pie rather than be Pawn Sacrificed as soon as they outlast their usefulness.

Is there a single fucking moron in the whole damn GOP who’s EVER played a single game of chess?

No, they were intended to be appointed by State legislatures but the 17th Amendment blew all that to hell and led directly to where we are now.
