And tries to sue the company that produced the band he was using. His case was thrown out as it had nadda for evidence to support his claims:
LAS VEGAS (AP) — A jury in Las Vegas flatly rejected former U.S. Sen. Harry Reid’s lawsuit against an exercise band maker he blamed for injuries — including blindness in one eye — he suffered when the stretchy device slipped from his grasp and he fell face-first a little more than four years ago.
After eight days of testimony, the eight-member civil trial jury deliberated about an hour before declaring that Reid never proved the first of 10 questions they were asked to decide: that the device Reid used that day was a TheraBand made by Ohio-based Hygenic Corp.
Jurors never saw the actual device because Reid’s adult son, attorney Leif Reid, disposed of it soon after Harry Reid was injured.
Reid and his wife, Landra Gould, weren’t in the courtroom when the verdict was read. The 79-year-old former Democratic Party leader used a wheelchair throughout the two-week trial, following treatment for pancreatic cancer and back surgery.
Their lawyer, James Wilkes II of Tampa, Florida, said he respected the Nevada jury’s decision. “I may not agree with the outcome, but I agree with the way we got there,” Wilkes said.
I am going to send Hygenic Corp a very nice thank you email. They did something that I have been wanting to do for years… smack that b!tch in the face.
Note the last part of the next to last sentence " following treatment for pancreatic cancer, and back surgery"…rarely, unless it’s caught early does one get pancreatic cancer and survive very long, that, and it’s a very painful way to go…My guess, reading between the lines he got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, and probably dosen’t have long to live…
I don’t think anyone believes it was the band or the supposed fall that gave him such a smashed up eye. Probably just a reminder from a generous Vegas donor.
My gut says this time one of the underage boys rumor has it he likes to butt-bang took exception to being the bang-ee… the “exercise band lawsuit” was just a coverup.
Now that makes a lot of sense. I didn’t know that about Reid, but it would explain such strange circumstance and such stupidly contrived cover story. Glad the jury wasn’t buying his lame deflection and attempt to smear an exercise equipment business.
I’ve known several people who died from pancreatic cancer, most within 6 months of being told, and one lasted 9 months. One of the most fast growing and lethal forms of cancer. He should be setting his life aright, not digging his hole of shame deeper.
When this whole thing first happened the story was that it wasn’t the band that hit Harry, it was his Brother.
Harry refused to step in and fix a DUI ticket for his Brother and his Brother the Drunk dotted his eye for him.
My how things change…
This was beyond frivolously brought into he court room, and I would guess it was his position of power that had him thinking it would fly.
To refuse to even show the most basic of evidence is a slap in the face to the court, the jury, and all involved. I hope the company goes back after him and his estate.
