So today about noon I get an upper delivered by UPS. I have arrangements with Nefarious Arms to send it to them for a new chrome lined barrel installation. So I unpackage it, check it over, and re-box it for shipment to NA.
There used to be an actual UPS hub about 20+ minutes away, but they closed and the closest similar one is actually a UPS Store. I go there and attempt to ship it. Since it’s a brand-new HK upper I am going to insure it, and therefore need to disclose what it is in case of theft. As soon as I say what it is, the kid gets a funny look on his face and starts with the “Wellll, I’m sorry sir, but….” bullshit. I told him that it was not a complete firearm, not the serial numbered part, only parts. Nope, the UPS Store does not ship firearm anything. He tells me he’s seen a barrel or a trigger group denied.
I started getting pissed. I told him “UPS delivered it a couple of hours ago! WTF?” Well apparently UPS Store is only loosely affiliated with actual UPS, even though they use their fvcking logo. I remarked that I should have kept my mouth shut about what it was and avoided all this crap. He says “Well if you did that and they found out what it was, that is a felony.” Oh horseshit. By now I’m livid and start to walk away from the counter and say (not quietly) “Fvck your felony”. People in line are just looking at me as I blow past, and I didn’t give a shit how it looked. They can go fvck themselves too if they didn’t like it!
I used this particular UPS Store a year ago to ship a finished 80% lower for HK M27 markings. At the time I figured it was only an 80% lower, not a $2100 upper like today, so I lied about what it was. If it had been stolen then no big deal, I was only out maybe $150. Wasn’t going to take the chance with this upper though.
So all of this to say: FVCK the UPS Store! I will never use them again for anything and will smear them whenever possible. Fvcking sue me!
Just did some Googling and it appears that the UPS Store does indeed have a policy about not shipping even firearms parts. My mistake was assuming they were the same as UPS. Either way, fvck ‘em. Libtarded bastards.
So, if you have no choice but to use them, lie like a rug.
So we have a big UPS distribution center where I live. They no longer allow shipping or pick up of deliveries. They require you to use the local UPS Store. So you’re saying those dipshits, UPS, UPS Store, and FedEx don’t allow me to ship any gun parts or guns? Seriously? USPS is the only option? UPS delivers ammo and gun part to my door all the time? This is fvcking stupid.
Good lord yes they will, you fill out the shipping order online, generate your label, attach it to the sealed package, pick the declared value and pay the extra fee. Drop it off at whatever retail establishment you want and you’ll never have a funny look, they’ll cover it too as your local “UPS Store” policy isn’t UPS’s shipping policy.
So if you printed the real-deal UPS label with all the information on it do you think a UPS Store would ship it? I have my doubts; my guess is you’d have to still go to an actual UPS location to ship it.
“UPS accepts packages containing Firearm Products for shipment only as a contractual service and only from Shippers who are licensed importers, licensed manufacturers, licensed dealers, or licensed collectors (as defined in Title 18, Chapter 44 of the United States Code)”
Yes I drop them off at the local UPS Store all the time, and Fedex ones at the Walgreens. USPS Priority (or Registered for MGs) Mail gets my gun shipments though. PirateShip is the way to go though if you want to save money.
In the search bar here type in The UPS Store. There’s threads going back a decade describing issues with using TUPSS to ship firearms and related parts, as well as solutions including pre-labeled drop-offs at TUPSS and UPS driver pick up.
I had UPS drop off a firearm at my house, It was meant for the FFL, but they recently moved and they didn’t have the new address on file. Someone saw my name and dropped it off at my house. Pretty sure that was a felony or 2. So they will commit felonies themselves, but are strict when you try to ship an upper? thats ironic.
I hate them and fedex. I been using USPS lately. No issues with them. They just want to make sure there is no firearm logo’s or brand names on it. Has to be discreet.
I had a similar experience about 5 years ago and I haven’t been back to my local UPS Store. I was trying to ship a hand guard and upper for to have it cerakoted. Had to drive about 10 min further to FedEx and they shipped it with no issues. I use pirate ship now and just print a label and drop it off.
