DOJ: Ban on mailing concealable firearms unconstitutional, can’t be enforced
If I was shipping to a friend or family, I wouldn’t know or care about this ban anyway.
Selling a gun though? I’d go thru the FFL process for sure.
I would agree if it weren’t for the rumor I’ve heard most of my life about mailed cash frequently not making it.
I mean, as an kitchen table FFL, I sent and received thousands of firearms, suppressors, etc USPS Priority Mail and only had 1 package ever go astray. A simple missing mail request found it within hours because the Postal service doesn’t play around when you put the item missing in the package was a firearm.
That’s the catch. Not a huge deal for a pistol to go missing if shipped with an FFL.
Without an FFL if it goes missing reporting it would cause the non-licensee shipper problems and/or the package popping open along the way would cause the non licensee problems.
I quit mailing gift cards for that reason, had several not make it.
I shipped a Pistol to a FFL via Fed Ex some years ago. The Lady simply refused to ship my firearm and then got loud an angry about it.
Someone came out from the back and straightened her out and fifteen minutes later it shipped.
Had that Guy in the back decided not to help out, that Pistol, within the rules or not, isn’t going to ship.
So saying there is a rule change and the rule actually changing aren’t always the same thing.
