I’ve generally use a Phantom for OWB carry, but this may bring me back to IWB.
It certainly looks well thought out. Hopefully they show HK some love sooner rather than later.
It looks interesting but it sure does look bulky. The sight channel is oversized and adds a lot to the holster…

Set it up as it seems to most often be pictured: In an AIWB configuration.
I had no idea that AIWB could actually be concealable. It does feel like I’m “fishing” for my gun somewhat. And it’s not the most comfortable holster ever, but it has potential. I will continue to play with it. And if worst comes to worst, I’ll just reconfigure it as a 3-4 o’clock IWB holster - the leather on my Comp-Tac is starting to rot away, anyway.
The package is a departure from usual RCS packaging. Not a complaint, an observation. It comes in a nice, display-ready box. Instead of the more typical zip-lock bags. (There are zip-lock bags inside the packaging.) Seems like RCS might be getting ready to seriously step up their game (meaning production numbers). As in, on shelves in big box stores kind of stepping up.
The producing capabilities of an injection molded holster vs. Kydex is night and day. With considerably less labor going into a finished product, they ought to be able to have good enough margins to make appropriate profit at wholesale prices. Between the increased producing capabilities and likely lower cost (at least in labor) per unit, I wouldn’t be surprising at all if these end up in a store near you.

Moved the clips down on my Eidolon so it sits higher. Now it is no less uncomfortable than traditional IWB and my knuckles aren’t scraping the inside of my trousers when I fish the pistol out… but it’s concealment level has gone from, “That’s a funny-looking bump on the side of your belly,” to full-on, “Is that a gun in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?”
Somebody needs to do an Encyclopedia AIWBia. Preferably illustrated.
ETA: Sucked in my gut. Gun disappeared enough for me to be happy. Need to lose 30 lbs.
Anyone have a hybrid (MTAC, Crossbreed, etc) that they can compare the Eidolon to?
My MTAC is my end all, be all rig for IWB. I can’t seem to find anything as comfortable and adjustable, but Eidolon sure looks interesting.
I tried on this holster briefly, today. In the appendix position, it concealed well and was quite comfortable with a G17 (dummy gun). It’s an odd, complicated design, but it delivers. I personally would not buy it for anything other than AIWB use, as there are too many other great strong side holsters.
For those of you that carry AIWB all the time,
DO you remove the firearm when you get into your vehicle? Or just let it stay?
I love the AIWB position for when I am out and about but just can’t yet get comfortable with the muzzle, even though the trigger is covered,
just sitting right there facing my right femoral artery and the “boyz” when I am driving around.
I leave it in the holster. There’s a lot more risk in unnecessarily taking it out of the holster and putting it back than there is with just leaving it.
10-4, guess I’ve spent a lot of time carrying behind my hip and not worrying about muzzle direction, even though it’s in a holster. Old habits die hard.
1+ on the extra handling. That’s usually when ND’s happen. If it’s a quality firearm in a quality holster the chances of an ND are very low from just sitting there.
I really like the ideas behind the holster and have been playing around with it for a week or so. It works well, but not as well as my previous appendix holsters due to the all the added bulk the Raven adds. I need to continue playing with it though, when I first opened it, it was like a Mr. Potato Head/Rubik’s cube of a holster until I started messing with it.
As far as the appendix thing, leave it. The trigger is covered, my whole division, along with many I know personally/professionally conceal there every day. With all of our covert pistol training and all for UC/plain clothes work, no one has ever had any kind of issue.
Being able to remove my G19 from the AIWB position in a vehicle without exposing the trigger is one of the better features of the VG 2. I have received an Eidolon, but haven’t been able to do anything with it yet. If the Eidolon doesn’t lend itself well to AIWB carry for me, I will probably keep it for training. The VG 2 sucks in the training department. I am anxious to see how this new holster works for me.
Yeah, for me personally I’m waiting on a VG2 for a Shield, then I’ll pick up a similar AIWB setup that isn’t as comfortable, but has the same mounting/angle/depth to use as a training analog.

This holster is super interesting, but I can’t get my head around how ppl don’t print obnoxiously in AIWB.
I tried using a phlster access for a month or two (excellent holster) and it worked well enough I suppose, but I felt like I was relying on people not really noticing more so than actual concealment.
Posts from guys like Vendetta almost drive me mad sometimes.
For some people AIWB works really well and is more comfortable than traditional strong side 3 o’clock or 4:30 carry from the hybrid holsters. It is also a lot faster by default.
While AIWB isn’t for everyone, personally I can conceal a full size gun at 1:00 than I could a subcompact at 3:00. It makes me sad for the people that AIWB doesn’t work for.
