Please beware of counterfeit parts on the market.

I know things are crazy in this industry right now, and there is just no way possible to the industry to meet the markets demands – BUT please use GREAT caution when buying brand name parts from non-authorized dealers.

This customer bought “BCM” parts on gunbroker.com. He did not get what was advertised. The seller took a legit BCM carrier and removed the bolt and replaced it with a misc off brand (do not know the origins). As a result the part did not perform as expected.
At this point it is obvious the bolt is junk, but it gets worse. The lugs exploded in such a grand fashion that a significantly large chunk of metal is somewhat permanently lodged in the chamber. Now the chamber is damaged and the entire barrel is unserviceable.

As a note; BCM marks their bolt carrier groups (BCM logo on carrier and bolt). (some older bolts just said HP MP) (Current production bolt say BCM HP MP)
It is always the BEST bet to purchase BCM parts from BCM authorized dealers.

On another note;

Bad News: In June a days worth of BCGs sold out in 20 hours. In Oct, a days worth of production sold out in about 1 hour. After the election a days worth sold in 10 min. Now 15 days worth of production sells out in 2 minutes. Other mfgs had similar results. So BCGs will remain in short supply for a significant time (my guess)

Good News: please Do NOT pay these crazy gunbroker/ebay prices on BCGs. I do not think there is any legislation pending to ban BCG production.

Although I know that it probably doesn’t need to be addressed again - Stay away from Ebay - I picked up a pair of Troy Micro BUIS sights from a “reputable” dealer and they were wobbly counterfeit crap. Luckily, I got my money back. Everything from SOPMOD stocks to DD and Noveske free-float rails are being counterfeited and sold at full price. One only has to look at alixexpress.com to see the proliferation of fakes. LaRue, LMT, Noveske, Magpul, DD, you name it - it’s sickening…

I’d like to think that eventaully I will be able to get a BCM BCG for my current build. I use the “Email when back in stock” option on the site. I have missed the last three times they were “back in stock” by the time I got to a PC to order. Just have to keep at it in hopes that eventually my time will come. I refuse to buy from “unknown” sellers. Thanks for the heads up it’s good to see that you guys are alerting others before the same mistake is made again.

I know what you all mean. There is a used Aimpoint Micro T1 advertised in the local paper for $300, but I am afraid to buy it. Some of these fakes are hard to tell from the real deal. I think I will just save up to buy a new one from BCM or Grant.

I bought my BCG during the after election panic, for I knew it would be hard to get later, glad I did.

What I did not do was buy the new upper from you guys that I wanted…neither did I buy ammo I needed. Now I am SOL, I guess.

eBay is a bad place to buy anything, let alone gun parts.

Ask the seller to provide you with a serial number and verify that with Aimpoint. If they won’t or don’t respond, it’s most likely fake. Nothing wrong with helping someone out if its legit.

What’s funny is that looks alot like the pic of the Delton bolt that was posted somewhere months ago. I can’t remember where, but I saved the image.

It’s a shame things like this happen. I wonder how many people will be ripped off in similar a matter and not even realize it, then when a failure happens starts to badmouth reputable companies.
