Agreed. Sad to see him go.

I thought this was pretty cool.
Tales of Walker’s philanthropy are not new. CNN confirmed one story from a decade ago when Walker noticed a young U.S. soldier shopping with his fiancee for a wedding ring in a Santa Barbara jewelry store.
“The groom was just back from duty in Iraq, and he was going to be deployed again soon and wanted to buy a wedding ring, but he said he just could not afford it,” saleswoman Irene King told CNN. “I don’t think the soldier realized how expensive those rings are, about $10,000.”
The couple apparently did not know who Walker was, King said.
“Walker called the manager over and said, ‘Put that girl’s ring on my tab,’” she said. “Walker left all his billing info, and it was a done deal. The couple was stunned. She was thrilled and could not believe someone did this.”
King called it "the most generous thing I have ever see
I’ll just add this. Many in our society think that people such as myself, a civilian firearms enthusiast who likes to take training classes and build his own guns, is just as “deserving” of injury and / or death as PW was for enjoying fast cars. The “other” crowd would say PW had it coming if there was a firearm mishap and a person was injured or killed as a result. Accidents happen, even to good people who are trying to be careful. The best hobbies aren’t always the safest and even well-trained people make mistakes sometimes. It’s just part of life. I know for a fact that he was a decent fellow and I’m sad that this happened.
Perhaps he was an excellent guy, I’m not judging his life and I care a f**k about actors, sport heroes, and celebrities in general. I have nothing against people who enjoy fast cars or any high risk sport who don’t put other uninvolved people in danger.
But stupidly “playing race” or whatever they call it for the joy of it in public streets is like practicing shooting in the middle of the city across the steets… VERY obviously the streets are not for playing games, no matter how good the car or driver, and certains hobbies like shooting also require certain places to practice safely.
And I agree with you. I’m not claiming that he was not at least partially responsible for what happened (he wasn’t driving, but he probably knew and approved of what was happening). And that was my point about mistakes. He made one. A fatal one. I too am glad no bystander or other person was hurt because of their carelessness, yet that doesn’t diminish my sympathy for his family, friends, and fans. That’s all I’m trying to say, I apologize if it didn’t come out more clearly.
He seems like he was a stand up guy.
My best friend was in a similar situation this time of year six years ago. He was racing drunk and flipped his Firebird estimated at 110mph by another friend of mine. He died instantly. I’m angry at him for doing something so stupid but it doesn’t diminish the pain his friends and family will always feel.
While perched on your pedestals, some of you maybe think about the friends, family and a 15 year old daughter that lost someone.
No one is saying he wasn’t a good guy. But IF in fact he was “joyriding”, then his actions and his utter contempt for the safety of others should be condemned in the strongest terms. And the fact that he was a father only means he should be more taken to task for his pathetic childish thrill seeking which got him killed and and put others in danger of their lives.
You’re passing judgement on someone before you even have a fraction of the facts involved but that doesn’t really matter either.
It’s asinine for you to think that we don’t know racing is stupid and to think everyone posting here should strongly condemn him for such childish behavior.
It’s the same old banter and preaching with you Belloc. You get on here to step on your soap box and lecture the rest of us. Get yourself banned again. I couldn’t care less.
I’m sure none of you have ever foolishly risked your lives
Actually, no, I’m not. Guess you just sort of ignored the part about “IF”. But anytime you yourself want to actually grow-up, please count on my full support.
Oh so you and the pile on crew aren’t rushing to judgement, huh? You make me fvcking sick along with others that are so ready to cast the first stone and presume guilt and call themselves Christians. Holier than thou you are.
Do you even know what event he was sponsoring and attending before the accident?
That was simply pointing out the absurd statements and mentality of those who made those comments. And the police have now in fact said that speed was a factor, which just in fact may mean that they were very deliberately putting not only themselves, but innocent people, on the road and off, in mortal danger for the sake of a childish thrill.
And look, I’m not saying you have to grow-up today, or even tomorrow, but eventually. And again, when you decide to make that call, count on my full support.
Remember when your folks used to say “Don’t make me stop this car?”
That was the brake pedal you just heard.
