Actor Paul Walker, famous for his role in the Fast and Furius movies has died in a car crash. Apparently wrapped his Porsche around a light pole. Kind of ironic.

Not a fan of the movies after the first couple but these cars really are no joke. Him driving or not theres a ton of power/speed there. If he wasn’t driving that’s a huge gamble handing the keys off to someone. Him driving…I’d hope after all these movies he’d be pretty experienced and taking road course instruction and such. The fastest car I’ve had was a 350Z, and I wouldn’t give the keys over to anyone who didn’t have experience driving sports cars…and a 350Z is slow compared to that car. Don’t mean to MMQB but I’ve always been a fan of exotics and even owning relatively fast vehicles (including a bike that beats Ferrari’s) I’d be really nervous driving a Carrera GT. Can’t imagine owning one, and handing the keys to just anyone.
Some reports are now saying it was a friends car. Either way that’s a car that can get you into trouble really quick. My friend and I always joke “0-death in 2.7 seconds”.
I’ve owned and driven some fast cars. WRX, G37 my buddies 335i and two M3s, Z06, NSX etc. I honestly would be very hesitant to drive a high end car like that.
Paul was actually a gun guy. He bought his stuff at my LGS. I ran into him a few weeks ago and we talked and had some laughs. This sucks.

Exactly. Theres a HUGE difference in the cars a lot of people drive and something like that. These are basically cars that can go on a track with enough trim to be street legal at the same time.

The CGT is know among enthusiasts as the widow maker… I guess it held up to its rep.
I’ve ridden in one owned by an acquaintance. It’s easily the scariest of the fast cars. Having driven a couple of 6MT Italians, I can honestly say that it’s very easy to have them get away from you with the driver aids turned off. The CGT didn’t even bother with having the driver aids.
