Paul Walker dead

As much as I love exotics, I’ve never felt very safe as a passenger in one.

Yeah, he was a fan of nice 1911’s. We talked about AR’s the last time I spoke to him at the LGS. He liked DI AR’s, and has / had an LMT still waiting for him at the shop. My friends that work there have known him for several years. Paul was a genuinely nice guy. This is pretty sad, guys. :frowning:

His business partner who happens to be a professional racing driver was driving the CGT at the time of the crash. Although tragic, he died doing something he loved.

Hell yes! Gotta die sometime. Beats dying in an old folks home. I personally plan to die in my 200s, but I hope I die doing something fun. Maybe a hooker.

Didn’t expect this site to be celebrating a guy’s death because he was an actor, and a gun guy as well.

I think its the fact that they were likely driving way over the speed limit and there is the chance of other contributing factors. It sucks that one of the few good guys in hollyweird is gone, but its the whole play stupid games argument, whoever it is. You want to take a car like that and push the limits? Awesome, can’t blame a person for wanting to do so, do it on a track where you do endanger others and there are emergency crews standing by in case something bad happens. Do it on public streets, well all I can say is I’m glad they didn’t harm others.

Damn, not much left of that one. Wonder how fast they were going.

When I’m old I’d rather go peacefully in my sleep after a day of doing something fun. Perhaps a hooker.

I like the feel of driving at sedate speeds, safely wrapped up in my comparatively massive FJ Cruiser.

I wonder how many military personnel were killed in the last 24 hours in Afghanistan? It’s sad that some actor died driving fast in his absurdly fast and furious Porsche, but I really could care less.

Couldn’t care less. To say that you could care less means that you do care.

America’s obsession with holllywood and actors. This guy will be mourned and thought to be “taken too soon” where as those who put their lives in dangers way on a daily basis get no such regard.

Pathetic.

Sometimes maybe it is ok simply to say, “Wow, that’s a real tragedy.” And then consider his grieving friends and family members and remember them in your thoughts and/or prayers.

My .02

My thoughts exactly.

I can’t see any reason to disagree with you on this Paul. Amen.

He was big in the auto community and apparently a big gun guy too. Sucks that he is dead. If Vickers or Lam were to die unexpectedly I bet we would be talking about it here. I don’t remember anyone bitching when we were mourning the loss of Noveske.

I’ve driven some rediculiusly fast cars at the track and on the street. Twin and single turbo Corvettes making 1000+ HP at the tires, big motor Camaros, Firebirds and GTO’s and even my Firebird at 600+HP at the crank (525RWHP) ain’t a slouch. But I always knew the difference between the track and the street. I would drive a 1000HP turbo Z06 to the track at 65mph. Run a few 8 second passes at 160+ and drive it home at 65mph. Driving high powered cars on the street requires a lot of restraint.

I street races once! At the time my car was a messily 395Rwhp with a 75 dry nitrous shot on top of that. I had my friend in the car. We rolled up on a DSM with a lot of boost on a large road/highway at the jersey shore. My bottle was open… We came around a jug handle and both punched it as we straitened out onto the highway. I was on a street legal slick tire. As soon as the nitrous turned on, my rear tires lit up and all u could see behind me was tire smoke. My friend nervously grabbed my arm and I shut it down. I don’t think I ever went over 60mph.

That was the end of racing on the street for me. It’s just not worth it.

I liked his movies and if what u guys are saying is true he was a nice guy. But one can’t take these cars to the limit on the street safely, you just can’t.

I lost a friend 11 years ago when he wrapped his Vette around a pole on rt3 not too far from Giants Stadium.

Another friend of mine totaled his brand new Z06 and put his friend in a coma for over a month coming back from my BDay. He claims he wasn’t racing but he was driving along another friend with a supercharged and hevaily modded Ford Lightning. You do the math.

These cars are now joke. Shit, I’m sure if I hold doen the throttle long enough on my Mazda 3 ill eventually get to a dangerous speed as well. These cars just make it a lot easier and their capabilities need to be respected.

Shame.

None actually. We lost 4 in November. I do agree with your sentiment.

Not everyone that ends up in Hollywood is a bad guy. Also don’t forget that many people that put themselves in harms way on a daily basis are invisible to America. Granted there is a superficial aspect to Hollywood like ET and it’s actor worship. When a Soldier dies in a sensational manner “America” is not even allowed to know what went on, what’s going on or what will go on. It’s not necessarily that we don’t care. Many of the people you feel should be held in high regard on a daily basis simply are not accessible. So in many cases they simply have to be regarded privately. The fact you don’t see it doesn’t mean no one cares.

America does care, even some of the Hollywood crowd.

He was a celebrity? Ahh, screw that guy, who cares.

What, he liked guns? What a tragedy!

Why does that have any bearing on how you feel?
