Lookin’ good! Is that a LaRue pistol grip?

wow good eyes!.. I can hardly see the grip in the low res photos. Yes it is. The LaRue A-Peg. I like it, have tried Ergo Grip and Magpul MOE+ but the LaRue is my favorite. Its very sturdy, rather wide compared to others and formed well to fit the hand. Very ergonomic. If your looking for a new grip I would pick one up.

looks Awesome. you will love it!

Very nice indeed, thanks for sharing. What bolt are you running?

Let me know how you like the scope and how it works at longer ranges. I’m looking at picking one up.

I took mine well past 1200 and it’s a great little round

Until yesterday I had only positive things to about this scope. I went on a prairie dog hunt yesterday and had a lot of trouble getting a clear scope picture at high magnification. I think it was mostly due to mirage though

The bolt is a 7.62/39 from SAA, headspaced to my barrel (by SAA). I got the entire BCG for $88, thought it was a great deal so why not. So far so good

SAA? How do you like the BHW barrel?

Fit and finish is great. If the barrel performs near what I expected it to its great value, I got the barrel, upper and BCG for about $400 shipped. have not yet shot to test the accuracy capacity. Only have shot the gun/barrel once, 15 rounds to sight it in with wolf gold. I have a few boxes of A-Max 123gr for my next range trip. Will post results here .

Looks good! What barrel profile did you go with? I’ve had my eyes on a BHW barrel for my upcoming 308 build.

Here is the barrel description and specs:

Black Hole Weaponry Barrels employ the use of 416R, match grade stainless steel. BHW Barrels specialize in Polygonal rifling; The shape of the lands and grooves are based on a circle, so there are no sharp corners or edges for the bullet to conform into. This means there is a tight seal and thus less bullet deformation. This rifling form is unique in its ability to allow the bullet to be centered and fully supported by the barrel’s bore. This arc shaped rifling has long been held in very high regard for its accuracy, increased velocity, reduced gas cutting and ease of cleaning.

What mags are you using? My last foray into 6.5 G was fraught with frustration due to mag-related issues- however that’s been years ago and I’m thinking of putting together another.

I bought 4 of the AR Stoner 25 rd mags and have had no issues whatsoever. 400 rounds so far with not one feed issue!

I have not shot the gun much yet. Maybe 50 rounds. The mags I have 2 C Products and a ASC. I think C-Products, ASC and AR Stoner are all the same mags. Although I am not sure. I have two ten round, one 15 round. No issues yet with either. What I have heard is that the higher capacity mags, like the 25s can have feed problems. I read on one forum or another (cant remember which) that the problem is cause because the mag body is designed for 223/556, with a 6.5 follower, apparently spreading open the “lips” of the mag can fix the problem. My gunsmith told me that the hi cap mags designed for AR/AKs, (AR-15 chambered in 7.62/39) work well but I have not tried. I have also heard that the Gen2 ASC mags are better. Furthermore I have been told that you can send back mags to ASC that dont work and they will send you a new one.

Sorry I cant recall if my gunsmith recommended 5.45x39 mags or 7.62/39 mags for the 6.5…

the 5.45 x39 mags work perfectly, you just need the proper follower. I have had zero issues with any of my mags for the Grendel. y out don’t get 30 rounds you get 25

Thanks. I think ASC are the new C-Products and make AR-Stoners. The old C-Products/AA mags sucked (I had about 1 in 10 that would feed reliably) and I think the ASCs are improved though not 100%. Recently some have reported good success with PRI 6.8 mags too.

Got to the range today. Most of the shots I took where getting the new Burris XTRII 4-20 dialed in. Once I was done zeroing. I shot some pretty good groups. On one target I shot a 1.5 moa, 1 1/8 moa, 7/8 moa, and a 3/4 moa group. I was using A-Max 123 grain ammo, 3 shot groups at 100 yards. I consider myself to be a novice shooter so I am sure that in more capable hands 1/2 moa is easily achievable.
