What are your initial impressions?
That this is a great mag and may turn out to be the BEST AR mag on the market.
Shortly, you will see many well known/big name industry shooters switching to this mag (as will I).

Are you saying these are better than PMags?
There are too new to make any such statements, but they have the capability to go places.

Thanks.
Grant, what kind of followers is Lancer using in the AWM mags?
My old L5 mags have the lt green USGI followers. That said, I never did find it problematic, just an area that could be improved on.
I did not see it mentioned in Lancer’s announcement or website.
They look more like a C Products, Fusil, etc follower. They don’t have the “rounded” bullet shape like the GI. They’re angular.
I would be very interested in how these do with the 5.45 rounds in a S&W upper.
The only issue holding me back from buying a 5.45 upper and a very large quantity of ammo is reliable magazines.
Thanks for the heads up, Grant. I’ll snag some with my monthly order. ![]()
Black, anti-tilt.

The followers are actually marked “L5” on the top.

Does this new mag have true 30 rnd capability? Ie. being able to easily seat the mag on a closed bolt with 30 rnds in it?
Its generally a better practice to simply down load by one on any bottom feeders… Will greatly reduce your risk of magazine malfunctions.
Grant, I will catch up with you on some of these. I want to T&E a half dozen or so in upcoming carbine classes…
I used the three I bought last night at the range. It seat easily on a full 30 round load with a closed bolt, much easier than with the older L5s.
Can we get a pic of the follower?
I know people get their panties in a wad over tilit vs non-tilt followers (not as much on this board as M4C members tend to like the USGI mags) but on other boards where members hounded Lancer about the followers the Lancer rep stated that anti-tilt followers were not needed in the Lancer L5 (due to constant curve internal design) and that they work 100% with the green followers and this has been my experience but I find it interesting that they decided to incorporate an anti-tilt design in the new L5 AWM.
Fairly certain ‘tilt’ is a non-issue with the new Lancer mags but what do I know?
Here’s some pics of the mag follower:

Mag base:
I think the follower runs into the mag base which would prevent overcompression and would keep the mag spring from catching up in itself.

Would anyone with one of these mags be willing to weigh it? If they’re closer to the weight of a USGI mag that would be a plus to this design.
Thanks for the pics, much appreciated.
Yes but with something like a Pmag for example you don’t need to do this. Thats the advantage of a true 30 rnd capacity design.
Anyone use these new mags with 5.45?
Anyone have pics of these in use, or a video?
I never had an issue with the couple of old Lancer mags I have.
