I think KY still has a .270/6.8mm bore diameter minimum for elk hunting which is amusing considering Scandinavian hunters have been successfully using 6.5×55 Mauser on moose for over a century.
When we looked at the whole idea of kneecapping leaders of Palestinian riots, we tested .22 mag against 22 LR, the mags blew the hell out of cow knee joints and the 22lr suppressed was a lot quieter
All handguns suck, which is why I tried the 357sig Leighi rounds. If Leighi rounds didn’t exist I would be 9mm all the way for pistols.
I see no advantage in firing a pistol faster than about .25 splits in patrol LE / SD usage at very close range when we’re accountable for every round. At further distances one needs to fire at a slower cadence.
This pace can be accomplished with 9, .40, and .45.
I reload. And i think my pistols carry enough rounds for non-LE SD. i do carry an extra mag for several reasons. Sometimes a 2nd gun.
Ron, I am with you. I always have a second gun. Mostly another handgun. but sometimes a PCC. I go to a lot of jobsites before they are jobsites. Sometimes they can be in sketchy spots. most of the time I am solo. Abandoned building, section house complexes, and old mills. I seen and been hassled enough where I grab a keltec sub 2000 along with my ccw. last place I went to, had blood all over the place and needles stabbed into the ceiling and walls.
Most are harmless homeless people, but when cracked out, They can be very aggressive.
As I have stated many times I carry either my Glock 35 converted to .357sig with a 6 inch KKM barrel that is mag na ported, or a Glock 32, as my EDC pistols.
I have now added a rifle to my vehicle, which I never used to do in an urban setting. But with a mass wave of coded morse code radio messages coming out of Iran I think we are going to see terrorism.
Then a Glock 32 in a chassis for when I go into Kosher supermarkets, these now tend to be planned trips.
I will once again stress if only conventional HP ammo was available it would be all 9mm. But with the Leighi Defense 63 grain ammo from Underwood, does it turn a pistol into a rifle, no, but it is a great improvement.
Cool.
When i carry a 2nd it’s on my person. I’ve got a 3rd & a rifle in my vehicle. My parking situation is pretty safe.
We all know the odds of needing a “trunk gun” are super low & perilous to be weilding (any gun) when LE show up. But we’ve seen several occasions, recently Australia, when a good guy with a rifle could have really made a difference.
I used to plan for “more likely” scenarios but dang, we’ve seen so many crazy things happen to “soft targets” i feel “try to be ready for anything, including things you haven’t considered” is more prudent.
To be clear, if things are taken care of, or at least stabilized somewhat, non-LE needs to drop / stow thier guns when LE moves in if not before.
This is how I feel. I always keep a 16” carbine in my truck. only reason why i carry the keltec is because i am pretty far from my truck. The keltec will get me to my truck better than a 12 shot handgun. Least I am hoping. I am toying with the idea of a fold up rifle in 5.56. but been busy doing other things right now.
My threat assessment as of now is as follows. I have one threat level for Jews and a second one for the rest of the USA.
For Jews the threat is high, primary due to sudden jihad syndrome, which is what we called lone wolf terrorist in Israel back in the day, until our smart boys and girls cracked the social media part of the puzzle. Once this was done we cut lone wolf terrorism by 97%. The good news is the USA has the Constitution. The bad news is this prevents FBI or local police from doing what we could do in Israel.
Also in the USA due to billionaire ass wipes, they put together the commies and the hadjis prior to 7th Oct. In other words handlers of these turds knew Oct 7th type event was coming and they had laid the ground work . How could it be that marxist and hadjis hit the streets in the USA to protest Israel on the 7th of October . I also know that both the John Brown Society and Socialist Rifle Association have sent member to train outside the USA.
So since I live in the Jewish community I now carry a 11.5 inch AR pistol in my vehicle with armor and more ammo. I can respond just as fast as the police due to defund the police. I will go into a synagogue alone and fight.
If I wasn’t Jewish and I didn’t live on one of the coast, I wouldn’t really change that much of what I carry because my threat would be crime. In rural places the crime is at a reduced rate, example when I go visit my dad and sister that live in a small town in the Mid West, I only take my Glock 32 with me if I fly. If I drive I take a rifle in the vehicle.
My Glocks, Walthers, and CZ’s NEVER required a “breaking in” period. To me, that is utter bullshit in a defensive pistol. They should work fine right out of the box. My experience with shadow systems has been less than stellar so no further comment on their reliability / build quality.
The threat of street crime, for me, is really minimal to non-existent; and I reside in both an urban and suburban environment. The threat of a mugger accosting me while walking my dog in south beach is minimal and can be handled easily enough. My concern, even if unlikely, is the islamic pig(s) deciding to attack a local venue, be it restaurant, cafe, grocery store etc. The only item I will have on me is my carry pistol (18+1) and spare 18rd mag in pocket. If such an event were to come to fruition, hope 36 rds would suffice !
Many fine machines run better after a break-in. I don’t mind at all.
Perhaps we should sue Glock and say mean things about them so they will extend significant discounts.
I’m still rocking my Gen 3s with zero complaints and doubt that is going to change anytime soon even though being left handed I wouldn’t mind an ambidextrous pistol.
My Glocks are all 3rd gen. I only had 3 issues with them the stock sights, trigger and that Glock hump. So they all wear after market sights plus red dot, trigger and frames.
Sold my Glocks over the years. Have probably owned 20 or so. Highest round count through any was about 15k rnds.
Aquired other guns i found to be superior. As far as polymer-framed pistols, that’s the S&W M&P 2.0.
Although the Glock ban won’t be enacted until July 1, 2026, they are already thin on the ground and expensive when found here in California. I went to a few shops yesterday and one had a G17 and another a G19, both Gen 3 and at eye-watering prices. The G17 was $999, the G17 $1099!
I like my Glocks, but outside of policy driven artificial inflation, there is no way they are $1k guns. At that price point, there is no need to boycott the company, the decision is a no-brainer. I bought a VP9A1 instead.
