HSM Ammo

With the ever growing issue of finding quality blasting ammo, I have started to check out some new options. One of them is a company called HSM. They produce some ammo called “range/training ammo.” It is brass cased ammo that appears to be of very high quality. It is also very affordable to shoot (which is the nice part)

Accuracy seems to be on par with similar 55gr ammo (like Winchester white box) and my AR/Ak seem to eat it up just fine.

One thousand rounds costs about $218.

As I posted elsewhere, I have had good luck with their .45 that they custom load for me. Their standard .45 SWC doesn’t meet power factor for IDPA, but they bump it up 50 fps for me so that it does. Can take awhile to get, but it’s good stuff when they get to it.

There has been a big thread on them on TOS. Seems that they do make good ammo but their CS isn’t that great and availability is hit or miss. However if you are LEO/MIL you can get pretty good discounts.

I have never used their .223/5.56, but I have shot a fair amount of their .50 AMAX and have had very good accuracy with it.

“Sinister” Dave read me on to HSM pre 9/11 - with their 77gr SMK load (the initial Navy AA53 loading) I picked up a bunch while visiting Ft Lewis and it was really impressive – so much that I drop by their plant and picked up about 20k of their ammo.

The M855 stuff was fairly poor for accuratce – but all their other ammunition from 9mm to .50BMG has impressed me.

The 77gr load was a lighter load than the BH Mk262 WCC cased ammo I’ve shot.

Talk about an ammo whore!!

So Grant are you going to carry this ammo or just turning us on to it? If you carry it will you carry more than just the range ammo?

This has my attention.

Is any of this M193 Nato spec? I want cheap blasting ammo that Nato spec. That wimpy stuff from Wal-Mart isn’t doing my SBR justice.

I do have this ammo in stock right now. If there is enough interest, I will be stocking different flavors of their range ammo.

No. They do make a higher pressured round, but it is more expensive ($335 per 1K).

This ammo has been around for awhile… Just wait until some one gets a kaBoom with this stuff and post’s a 6 page thread on the Internet…

I know I’m kind of alone on this Ammo thing, but since My Ammo budget is not large… I seriously will shoot just about anything. I remember when The Georgia “Canned Heat” was all the rage and got glowing reviews from ALOT of shooters… a few kaBooms later… no one would touch them. The Only reason I never got some of it was they jacked there price up to where it was not worth it to me.

I would have no problems shooting this stuff for that price… even with a few kabooms sprinkled in there…

Gives me an excuse to get a new Gun anyhow… And I always have Eye protection… so what the hell…

I’ll man up and take my chances…

I used to shoot canned heat a lot as well and just finished up the last can of 1k I had. But like you said they jacked the prices up to where it just isn’t worth it anymore. Reloads for the price of new ammo just doesn’t tickle my fancy.

Grant,

I shot 250 rounds of the 55gr Soft Point Range ammo without an issue.

That would be great if you stock HSM in Soft Point and FMJ.

Kenny

Are these reloads?

Personally, and I think this was the case for quite a few folks, it wasn’t so much the fact of the kaboom but how they handled them with their “deny, deny, deny” policy.

The way I look at it is that ANY ammo can give you a “kaboom.” It is how the company handles the “kaboom” that matters to me.

Thank you for the feedback.

Yes.

Grant, any chance you’ll get some more M855?
If so, put me down for 2K.

I am sure I will get more in, but it is hard to say when.
