How not! To remove a URX2

Well, good for him. Now he has a upper like everyone else. Took something special and made something ordinary. And threw away $300 in the process.

Patience is a virtue. Your friend should try to be more virtuous. The deplorable destruction of American ingenuity is apalling.

I can remember maybe 35 years ago when I was that impatient. I wasn’t that imprudent though. I would have suffered through to Monday and taken it to the LGS. I am so glad I have a little patience now. I do have to admit though it really helps having some shit to play with while waiting for the latest project to come to fruition. Waiting and waiting. Patiently waiting.

Wow. I’ve done some impulsive and stupid things in my time, but this is quite astounding. I don’t get it. Oh, well.

Any of you guys ever had something shipped in next day air for $65 when you could have got it shipped ground for $15 waited a few days? This guy is only six times as bad as you!

Just wow.

I to have a SR15 mod.0 upper, I too had the rail removed. However I had Rainier do it and pin a Vltor gas block at the same time. They also installed a 12" DD RIS II.

I have since then assembled another 11.5" upper with a BCM HF barrel and the URXII that came on SR15, I also ground and used the set screw KAC gas block on this upper.

Since then I have removed the RISII from the SR15 upper myself at home and install a 15" SMR, awesome set up. I was able to use the RISII on yet another build.

You did it all wrong IMO. Why you would sacrifice that rail, whether you wanted it or not is beyond me. It would have sold on the EE for more than what it would have cost to have some one like rainier do, and install a PINNED gas block, which you still do not have.

Epic fail of true internet proportions, well done Sir.

oh, and ibtl

And did he cut the BattleComp off too?

I think OP started a thread where the battle comp was “bulged” so they changed it. That threads locked now i believe

Perhaps the URX was also warped from the same twenty sequential 30-round magazine dumps that caused the “bulge” in the BC.

While this dude is a reh-tard for the process, the end result prob has nothing to do with having a exclusive, special snowflake rifle even tho I think that’s part of the reason someone buys a Knights gun anyway.

sent from mah gun, using my sights

I’m going to want a “WARNING GRAPHIC CONTENT” the next time I am forced to look at something like that.

As this one should be.

I’m wondering if he ever had to wait for a tax stamp. That would truly test his patience (or lack thereof).

Eh, flame me if you want but I don’t see the big deal. That handguard is worth 300 new, not resale (plus the cost of the gunsmith removal). He really probably wasted $100-150. I’ve blown that on one dinner with the wife. People blow money all the time. For all we know, he brings his lunch to work every day and drives a 35mpg car. It’s his rifle, his money and if he really wants the NSR on it then I’d say mission accomplished.

Would I do this to my SR-15, hell no. My eyelid would twitch for the next year…but give the guy a break.

So are you saying that the BC can’t withstand such use? This is of course not what happened but you obviously understand the inner workings of a BC to know exactly what would cause such a deformation. I’m amazed at how much people have to say from there PC but in reality would just get knocked out cold if you talked about people the way you do. But go ahead compensate.

I threw up in my mouth a little. Damn. But…his shooter, his money, his decision.

Everytime a person cuts off a URX2 an Angel loses it’s wings
