4 hours down a kayaking trip and my newer Glock 26 GEN 5 is like this. I missed the GEN 3’s. MY old beater 17,19 and 22 never done this, and i drifted 3 days with my g19 submerged.

most of the barrel had some minor surface rust on the inside, That pic showed the worst. Also, some of the mag was rusted. Where the metal shows. The slide looked like it was tarnished or something. Time to track down a gen 3 or 4 G29.
Eh, fire a few rounds and blast that rust right out of there. Good as new.
That’s odd. As far as the slide finish, I really like my G22 gen 5’s finish because it’s a little slicker and blacker. But I have read some complaint about it on Glocktalk.
On the barrel, I know they changed the rifling, but I’ surprised the finish would be different.
I do like how the new finish looks compated to the rough frying pan finish, just does not seem to hold up well.
Its all cleaned up now. Cleaned up wicked easy. still on the search for an older gen 3 or 4 29
I have several Gen 3’s and have taken them everywhere with me. I have never seen anything like this before.
I’ve had good luck with slide finish wear as far as holster rubbing compared to the nitride like finish. It’s no biggie either way. Some guy on Glocktalk posted that the new finish had issues with chipping or something. I’ve not seen that yet, and I’m running multiple G22 gen 5s.
Hit Glock up and see if they will warranty it, every now and then they send out a lemon and that goes back to their start.
Had a buddy who had a Gen 3 20 for less than 5 years that had pitting over most of the slide when he traded it while i had a Gen 2 19 for about 20 years with the finish wore off the corners that never rusted before the breech face failed.
Come to think of it, I had a Gen 3 19 that had a few pits starting on the slide before i refinished it with Duracote.
Since it cleaned up easy and only inside the barrel, is there any chance you shot some 9mm that had a copper plated steel jacket?
Maybe I will, its only a few months old.

This is one of the many reasons I’ll never give up my Gen 3s. My understanding is the old school Tennifer finish used on Austrian manufactured guns is too environmentally unfriendly to be used on USA manufactured guns

Like old school chroming guns or car parts here, EPA makes it almost impossible.
I remember reading that you could never actually replicate an AK in the USA because they will not allow you to chrome a barrel that heavily in the USA.
This is my Gen3 G30. It was my EDC for 25+ years, mostly IWB. It’s gone hunting, fishing, hiking and camping with me and has an untold number of rounds through it. Other than the shiny slide stop lever it looks almost new.
Exactly, I have a older gen 3 22 and 17. Finish is wore off from holster wear. I can leave that thing outside for months, will not rust at all.
This new g26 gen 5 is horrible.
I’ve never seen a glock or picture of a glock with rust, except aftermarket parts and even those had to be poorly cared for.

I cleaned up the barrel Mondy, but the interior is starting to rust. Going to wait till Friday for Glocks CS and if not. I am going to call them.
UPdate, barrel is rusted already. Even left rust marks on speer gold dots. I was HEAVY on the lube when i scrubbed it Monday. Waiting for GLOCK to respond.
Fudge! Is your area humid?
I am in Maine away from the coast, not humid at all. I have never had rust issues on any CCW. And when I was young and broke, I didnt carry the greatest pistols out there. When I get home, I will post pics of 2 glocks from years ago that rode in my side exposed to the elements. Rain and snow, sometimes salted snow. Not one of them has a spec of rust.
