Handguns are hot too
Especially ones in 9mm and .357/.38 it seems

First of all, I’m not opposed to someone buying a pistol whenever they want for whatever excuse/reason they feel like using. If you want one, get one. No further explanation of how someone spends their money is necessary.
Beyond that, the number of people that have a panic mentality that the number of days remaining for them to purchase a handgun from a dealer are dwindling is just amazing. Worried how much longer they can do a private party paperless transaction? Maybe. Worried how how much longer they can buy new standard capacity magazines? Maybe. Worried they might not be able to buy new semi-auto rifles with specific scary looking features? Maybe. A little paranoia isn’t always bad if it gets people to plan ahead for things they might need. But worried that they won’t be able to buy an auto loading pistol from a FFL in the very near future? Sorry, I just can’t get there from here. Not yet anyway. Seems Heller was specific enough to cover that.
Now, if anyone gets upset please read my first paragraph again.
The new G19’s that I’m referring to are a ways out yet. That being said they want everything when it comes to guns. If you believe that the Courts ruling on DC is the end all be all tell my ppl living in DC are still having serious issues? I’m buying what I can but that’s the way I am, it doesn’t matter whose in office or what legislation is being discussed.
Local gunstore has a brandie new G19 with OD frame for $509+tax.
I would agree that not being able to purchase from a FFL in the near future is not likely. Planning ahead is a good thing. I did not have any hi cap or 9mm pistols and thought it would be a good excuse to kill two birds with one stone.![]()
No shortage here.
i just perused 3 FFL’s in my area.
unbelievable … nary a 9mm Glock in sight.
plenty of .357, .40 S&W, and .45 ACP’s in stock, though.
One FFL mentioned to me that there was a large foreign .mil order that contributed to the backlog. On top of the panic buying.
I was at the local goon show this past weekend helping a friend do some shopping. I had suggested that he look at the Glock 19 (as well as the S&W M&P 9) based on his criteria and pricepoint. Only saw three in the entire convention hall and some of the larger dealers had none, but plenty of Glocks in the other calibers as you seem to have noticed.
I made sure to buy and outfit two Glock 19’s in identical fashion before all this nonsense started. Boring, but gives me a warm fuzzy.
:D:D:D
LOL,
GA, Home of the Glock. I hope there is no shortage there our we are all in for trouble. Are you near Glock’s HQ?
He may have meant Iraq, if memory serves I belive they are being supplied with G19’s
I got a G17 last week and will pick up a new G19 either this week or next week. They are becoming a little scarce in this area but shopping around some will turn a few up. With the G17 I turned up 3 or 4 dealers that had them and went with the best price ($500). I also plan on two sets of night sights and the install/adjustment tools for them.
Man, I’m really becoming a Glock fan again. Must be in the blood:p
My FFL said his distributer visited glock about 10 days ago. They are shipping 5,000 pistols per day, but have a 190,000 pistol backlog they are trying to catch up on. Pistols are getting shipped every day, but demand is outstripping their ability to get them out.
I just picked up a G36 today, but I had to go on a wait list for about 3 weeks before a disttributer got one in. I hope it settles down a little soon, but seems like the demand is not going away.
I just picked up a new Glock 19 from a local dealer in northern Virginia. They have been out for about 4 months now but got a small handful in. There are import marks on the frame, barrel, slide, and stamped Glock Inc Smyrna, Georgia on the bottom of the trigger guard on this one.
It was a red label with two 15 round magazines. This is a brand new gen 3 model with the finger grooves. It also has a metal front sight and the SN begins in KUYXXX. This Glock was made and assembled in Austria which is strange. I think because of the huge backlog in the states they pulled some 19’s made in Austria to sell here.
There was two left at the shop when I got there and I was very lucky to have been at the right place at the right time.
LOL,
I am not really that close to Glock. But you are right, Georgia is awash in Glockage.
Thank God!
I got mine!

Along with Glock’s contracts and the panic buying going on I’m just curious if there might also be a production slow down as Glock tools up for the 4th generation models. I see that G22’s have been shipping lately.
I just found one in my local gun store for 490. i almost bought it but i have a new rifle and pistol on the way.
Unless something has changed in the last month, Glock hasn’t even made a final decision about whether to do models other than the G22 in the RTF configuration.
Have you handled a RTF frame yet and liked it, or are you just assuming it’s better?
Of the experienced shooters I know who’ve shot the RTF, they’re split 50/50 on whether it’s better or worse than the regular Gen3 gun.
