Glock is finally catching up with the aftermarket with their own 15 round magazines for the G43x/G48. Being the new OEM magazine these should be as reliable as any other Glock mag and not hit or miss like the aftermarkets. Honestly I think this is really a game changer for these slim line guns. I’ve got a stack of OEM 10 rounders and several with the Ghost, Inc. +2 and +4 extensions so I am not sure I am going to jump in on these just yet but maybe once they really hit the market. Also, Glock really missed the boat when they made the G43 with a completely different magazine rather than a shortened G43x mag.
About damn time.
…. and just like that the G19 became redundant.
Shield Arms got there years before…
yes, but i heard thet sucked and had to change the mag release. Least with OEM glock mags, they will work and not need aftermarket parts.
And they are also doing 15 round mags for the G44, I am looking forward to those.
Which is why I never tried the Shield Arms magazines; too many mixed reliability reports and having to change out the mag catch. I’m going to watch these OEM mags for a while before buying but I am confident Glock did their homework before releasing them.
Same, least with the G44 mags, I no longer have a 43X, ended up going G26 for availability of 15 and 17 round mags.
Yes, metal mags require a metal catch because they would eat the plastic factory one.
I would have replaced the mag release anyway since I have done so on every pistol I own. I can’t leave anything alone.
Ran a couple thousand rounds through Shield mags without a problem but I understand I am a sample size of 1.
I am the same way with milsurps and hunting rifles. But anything duty or CCW, i always leave stock. Minus adding night sights
I get it, but I couldn’t leave my 2001 WS6 alone, and I can’t leave any gun alone either. Anything I modify I run at a couple classes before carrying it, just to make sure. If I get a couple of thousand roughs without problems, I feel comfortable enough to carry it.
My Shield Arms Gen 3 mags and Shield Arms mag catch have been fine so far in my G43x COA.
I will absolutely switch back to the factory mag release if it is compatible with the new 15 round OEM mags though since the Shield Arms mag release doesn’t drop the Glock factory 10 rounders free and I travel to Washington State on occasion where 10 rounders are legal and my permit is valid.
Always wondered why they didn’t do at least 15 from the start.
I travel to NJ on a regular basis and just swap the mag catch back/forth. Takes 30 seconds.
What do you do about your hollow points in NJ?
Same, it always baffled my mind too. But, at least they finally did it.
I carry Hornady Critical Duty when I am in NJ
From the FAQ section of the NJSP Website:
Are hollow points legal in NJ?
Yes. They are legal for purchase and possess in your home or on land owned by you. They are legal to possess and use at a gun range. They are also legal to possess while traveling to and from such places. Ammunition lacking a hollow cavity at the tip, such as those with a polymer filling, are not considered to be hollow point ammunition. An example of this can be seen with the Hornady Critical Defense / Critical Duty, Cor-Bon PowRball / Glaser Safety Slug and Nosler Inc. Defense ammunition. [Emphasis mine]
Nice, didnt realize the poly tip stuff was legal. I will make sure I stock up on some of them.
I read it is a Glock-Mecgar collaboration.
I also read about Glock coming out with 15 rounds magazines for the G44.
I doubt that. The G43X is great, and with 15 rounds magazines it would carry easier than the G19. But the G19 takes 17, 19, 24 and 33 rounds magazines and it is IMO a better combat and shtf option. They each have a purpose.
Yep. I hope Glock does something with the G43. Make at least a 9-10 rounds magazine for it.
The G43X is great but I will take my chances with the Glock 19xv and enjoy the privilege of having both the 19rd mags and 17rd mag.
