A local TV station reports that the potential kidnappers of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of “Today” host Savannah Guthrie, sent in a ransom note with a threatening demand for millions for dollars in exchange for the 84-year-old’s safe return.
KGUN 9 in Tucson reported that it received a note that demanded $6 million before 5 p.m. local time Monday and threatened Nancy Guthrie’s life if the family does not meet the deadline.
The station previously reported that it and other media outlets had received ransom notes demanding several million dollars in Bitcoin.
The report comes as Savannah Guthrie posted a new video to Instagram on Saturday, saying her family had received a message and was pleading for the return of their missing mother. The family did not detail what this message said.
I didn’t think kidnapping was a “Thing” anymore. I’m guessing She’s already dead.
I’ve been keeping up with this- in my opinion it was friends or family involved. Something bad happened and they are trying to cover it up. Just a random kidnapping doesn’t make sense.
Yea its a interesting ordeal for sure. Interesting and heartbreaking at 1st but its just getting weird now! Still checking it out a little everyday, but not @ the top of my news cycle that’s for sure. Bottom line somebody’s ass is gonna be in a sling when its all over that’s for sure. Will be standing by and waiting. And $10 bucks says its someone related or involved with the family!
This case just keeps getting stranger and stranger, they keep returniing to the house to gather more evidence, a week later?
Someone killed Grandma and tried to cover it up like a kidnapping.
My Mom is 86, when She 100% wants to go somewhere it’s like having a teenager with you, when She 50% wants to go somewhere, this is going to take ALL DAY.
You would have to kill her to move her is what I am getting at.
You dont have to be a Fench Guy with a funny name and a funnier mousttahe to know Grandma fell in the KIitchen and hit her head and died, now what happened before that is questionable
This whole thing is a bit strange. Other than the daughter being on Television, nothing pops up being remarkable, to suggest a kidnapping would result in a meaningful payment.
Considering it is Tucson, AZ, and kidnapping is a big problem in Mexico, kidnapping “Grandma” is possible. More likely she fell and hit her head or something similar during a possible robbery or some sort of family argument with some sort of coverup and deflection of blame.
We will find out later She spent the last week hanging out off I-10 Checking out “The Thing” at the Reststop there and having back to back DQ Blizzards.
My gut says it’s amateur hour. Apparently she’s on meds that she can’t be away from for > 24H but that could be a gambit by the authorities. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s gonna be a happy ending.
I don’t care who you are, moving a living or dead 80 something year old 5’ tall 150 lbs Old Woman on Meds and with a bad attitude is going to be a chore.
There aren’t a lot of nice ways to make a Chore easier in this case.
And Savannah Guthrie will be back on tv railing against Trump and evil ICE and how they are picking on our poor immigrant neighbors who came here for a better life.
More than a week after the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie (84), there has been a decisive turn in the abduction case: Police in the US state of Arizona arrested a suspect on Tuesday. This was announced by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department
Nancy Guthrie was last seen on the evening of January 31. Her son-in-law Tommaso Cioni had dropped her off at 9:48 p.m. at her longtime residence in Tucson after she had dinner with him and Nancy’s daughter Annie.
What investigators found suggested the worst: A trail of blood was discovered on the steps in front of Nancy’s front door, whose DNA could be matched to the 84-year-old. A surveillance camera had been removed from the door area.
