I must have gotten the reverse of your order. 100% of my “mix” of 115 and 124 gr V-Crown JHP’s were 115 gr! The only difference was in the location of the cannelure, 97 of them had the cannelure farther from the base than the rest. 99% of them weighed between 115.2 gr and 115.8 gr. They look great, haven’t shot any yet to see how they run. (I would have preferred 124 gr, but if these are accurate, I am still thrilled for the price paid).
I’m sure they’ll be just as accurate as the 124s, when pushed fast. These are accurate JHPs in my experience so far.
So I tried one of their mixed/pulled lots, 500 mixed 9mm JHP pulls, 124/115gr.
Very pleased with the assortment.
Got 'em weighed and sorted. 'Bout a 60/40 mix on those weights, shitload of Gold Dots, V-Crowns, XTPs, and about 100 Hi-Shok, with a few 124gr Hydrashoks for a cool blast from the past! 124gr Hydrashok was my chosen 9mm load back in the '90s. HA!
Were even 5 124gr HSTs, which I just threw in with the box of 124gr HST pulls I’ve already been working down.
Not too shabby for 35ish bucks to my door! AmRel just kicks ass…
Ha, Ha, I was just looking last night at the V-Crowns, had 2K in the box, and then pulled back. It’s crazy how they sell stuff so cheap with Free shipping, they must pay pennies for it! Now after reading this, I will probably go look “again” Maybe I’ll be saved by stuff being out of stock, LOL I did buy 5K SPP a month ago just for the stash, they were probably the cheapest we will see for a while still. It seems like everyone has almost everything but the prices sure as hell isn’t coming down. Thank goodness for AR and their deals. And while it wasn’t that big a deal, I HATED sorting my 115/124s, but I survived, LOL
I got a bunch of their mixed 62/55 gr FMJs. The 62s outshoot the RMR 69 gr bullet by a significant margin. I bought them to burn up the pull down powder from the AAC crap ammo.
I’ve bought a couple of things from them, 500 147 gr 9mm HST, 500 124 gr 9mm V-Crown. I procrastinated last week and somebody else bought them out of .224 64 gr soft-points. It took me a bit to catch on that those were probably either TBBC, or Nosler. Anyway, I missed out on that one. The stuff I did buy was in great shape!
Anybody else notice their prices have gone way up on some things?
Looking at pistol bullets, those pulled V Crowns I love so much are way higher now.
Yea,things are a bit more depending on what it is. I haven’t bought anything from them in awhile, don’t really need anything. Now the SS109 bullets are dirt cheap, again I don’t need any and they do suck for anything needing accuracy but if ya wanted/needed SHTF/zombie blaster stuff then your all set. I like shooting steel so those are a no go for sure! Sign of the times I guess. Still free ship and hazmat included & I think some of there primers came down a little.
Same here, no need for more steel core, shooting steel alot now.
Yeah it’s just certain items, maybe because they’re high demand?
I do like the soft points I got from them a while back, was still cheap. I’m doing similar now with rifle what I’ve been doing with pistol for a while, shooting FMJ in training then those get reloaded with SP.
Rifle on the wall has 40rnd Pmag loaded with 'em.
Yes, and selection is drastically lower.
Higher prices are fine for me right now. I’m on a gun spending freeze! :sarcastic:
I’d feel terrible if I was missing out on killer deals!
Yea,right, you’ll stop buying guns when you stop breathing markm! :sarcastic::sarcastic::laugh::laugh:Dam it,I’m retired and shit I’m still buying stuff, its a mental thing, admit it,LOL !! Anyways now I think it was last week AR did like 35/40% off on bullets and maybe something else. But I think that was aimed at the SS109 bullets, they have to many of them and nobody wants them. Yea the 147 V-Crowns are $80+ not the deal they once were, although I never did buy them. Even the mixed v-crowns are $80ish+. For what its worth I always compare with RMR when buying JHP 124 bullets and they typically come out less $$ Something to think about I guess. I always load the RMR 124 Nukes with power pistol powder and its a rocking SD and target load.
That’s exactly what I was looking at the other day, and decided the next bullet order is coming from them.
Should do it soon, we’ve got a big shoot next weekend, much ammunition will be expended.
I was like… “What are you talking about?” yesterday. But then I just ordered an LE trade in Glock for $330 delivered.
Ha, Ha! Yea, I’m no Glock fanboy but I do have my token 19x and like it, those LEO trade-ins are hard to pass up, and AIM surplus has had the sister to the 19x the G45 and I kinda want one but so far so good, LOL!
I’d sworn off any more Glocks, but For $330 delivered, and I already have the holsters and high capacity death clips? Had to do it.
Ah, those high-cap clips will be the downfall of mankind, for sure!!! I just got a new email from AR as I’m sure most did and was looking at powder, man the whores grab that stuff up quickly, LOL I see some powder listed as “similar” to H4350, gone!! Everything else is gone or nothing I would use. One of my shooting buddies sent a group text to us all and he said Powder Valley said the Alliant was NOT gonna make any more powder because of the shortage of nitro-cellulose! No wonder powder is disappearing so fast, although from AR it always went quickly, at least the better choices! Don’t use much Alliant powder although I am a fan of Power Pistol, I have a couple of lbs on hand so that will do the 2K plus I have of my RMR 124 Nukes. Maybe I’ll go snooping around, Powder Valley has free Hazmat today only, I think. Just goes to show ya, that there’s always something!
Bumping this one after a ball busting mess due to American Reloading’s decline in quality.
I bought 500 (I think) .357 pulled bullets and was getting all kinds of squirrely velocities, squibs, stuck bullets, etc.
After changing primers, powders, etc. I finally started to measure the bullets with my dial calipers. I’d estimate that, although the bullets all look alike, 80% are .355, and the rest float arount .357.
I’m able to load the 125s in 9mm and get decent ammo. But I’m through with American Reloading for good. I’ll shoot an ugly bullet as long as it’s the correct caliber, but I’m not measuring every f@$king bullet in a box.
This is timely for me, as I too am done with them.
Their “pulls” used to be decent quality, but lately it’s crap.
Finally loaded the last of a batch of 1,000 9mm 115gr TMJ. About 9% were undersized & unuseable.
Crap accuracy too.
Yeah. I feel like I’d have to measure EVERY bullet they ship now. Not worth it AT ALL.
If I’d have known my 1000 was whacked out diameters, it’d have save me a month of WTF shooting. And they should have been priced WAY cheaper.
