“The United States of America has successfully carried out a large scale strike against Venezuela and its leader, President Nicolas Maduro, who has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the country,” Trump said in a Truth Social post.
Mixed feelings here. Venezuela and Venezuelans figure prominently in my life. And although I have not been there in a while now, I’ve been all around Caracas and the exterior. One thing for sure, that guy was not good for the country or the region and a space for something better needed to be made. It’s just always disappointing when someone on the inside doesn’t make it happen. But in has case he made sure his immediate security was not Venezuelan, for fear that someone would do the right thing. When a dictator feels more secure with a merc security detail than one made up of loyal countrymen, maybe it’s because he fears the loyal countrymen! Those paid bullies and certain of the dictator’s administration are trustworthy because they’re in on the scheme. Plenty of good living for them. I guess the guy isn’t as completely stupid as he looks, sounds, and acts. It’s a good barrier to being removed by an inside job, and yet, you tell me, how do you get to this guy and snatch him and his wife and son, without some inside help? Someone took the $50M reward or decided enough is enough… I hope.
Great job by the troops! Im not sure how I feel about the whole thing. He was a bad guy pretty much all around, and definitely horrible for the Venezuelan people. Just not sure it was our place to take him down. Either way the deed is done, and I support the job our guys did.
Of course, I fully expect that the politicians and diplomat types to make a freaking disaster out of it in the long run.
China has just had it’s fears about Trump come to fruition: Orange Man is unpredictable, and they don’t like that. In fact, that gives them pause. GOOD! They had just had a ChiCom delegation arrive yesterday morning in Caracas to meet with Maduro. Whoopsie!
