Zombie Drug

S/A, check you medical records to see if you took this drug. There is a lot of movement under the wave tops.

“Mefloquine is a zombie drug. It’s dangerous, and it should have been killed off years ago,” said Dr. Remington Nevin, an epidemiologist and Army major who has published research that he said showed the drug can be potentially toxic to the brain. He believes the drop in prescriptions is a tacit acknowledgment of the drug’s serious problems

We had to take those pills weekly in OEF back in 2008. Thanks for the heads-up.

There is a group on Facebook that you should join

I don’t have a Facebook page, but if you’ll post a link I can check it out through my wife’s page.

Thanks for posting this, pass this one along gents if you know anyone who has had to take this shit.

I never took larium, but I did take malerone, and hated they way that crap made me feel. I heard larium could be much worse.

Oh, nice! Is this the little white pill that Doc used to make us take before we headed to the PI? Or the big fat orange one?

I can’t remember what the color of the pills were. They came out in the late 80’s. The big difference between these and the regular pills were that you took these once a week instead of daily. The Peace Corps doctor issued them to us in 94. I remember that not all of us took them, so far I have two confirmed and I’m waiting for the others to get back to me.

The FB link is:

There white I took them for 2 years

Had it in 02’. WORKED a DoS contract in Trashcanistan. The DoS resident “PA” encouraged & mandated we took it.

Weird dreams.

For you guys that took the pills, I strongly recommend that you join the group on FaceBook.

Great, I remember taking these things.

I took it 2002-2003. What is the best way to get old medical records from the Army?

St. Louis would be a place to start.
They do conventional records anyway and may have med stuff too.

Weird dreams for me too.
We had one gal who went totally paranoid and we had to get her off of it and one guy the same and we had to disarm him.

I just quit taking it. I had Malaria for 7 years.:frowning: Luckily it was not cerebral:eek: I carried Fansidar for years and heard so many bad stories about Fansidar that when I first got malaria since it appeared not to be cerebral I just decided not to take it.

I took that shit a few times and after I had some weird episodes I immediately stopped.

I took a lot of pills while overseas. How would I know of I took this pill? I know I took a Malaria pill but I don’t remember which one it was.

I was issued a bottle every month for 10 months, I threw those bitches in the garbage can every time.
Hearing this though, makes me wonder about all the shots I had to get

This is a pill that you would have only taken once per week while you were overseas and for 4 weeks when you returned. The other commonly used pill for malaria prophylaxis is doxycycline which is taken once daily.

Spot on

All the pill does is contain the malaria in your liver. If you dont take the pills they give you when you get back then you will get malaria. We had 3 guys get malaria in 03-04. I found out about the doxy after I had been on the pill for the second year.

I got lepto in South America in 01 that shit sucks ass!!!
