I popped in a Young National Match BCG the other day. My AR jammed like never before. FTE, FTF, Double feed,. My gun was not exactly clean, but my LMT BCG was running no problem. Are these designed to be run in a very clean, NM type guns. Which may be good for accuracy but not for tactical operations?
Or should this Pretty BCG, with nice lines and shaping etc, run better than standard?
I have never had any personel experience with one but I have heard they come a little oversized…how true that is I’m unsure. Call Young mfg. and ask them. Its mixed bag for me becuase I have heard good and bad things about these bcg’s. I was thinking about getting one a while back but decided to get IONBONDED M16 BCG from BravoCompanyUsa. I am extremely happy with my purchase.
No on both counts. All they do is look pretty. You’re better off sticking with your LMT. Just my opinion.
I have one in my “precision” AR along with a Lothar Walther barrel and mated bolt. The first Young Mfg BCG I received had terrible machining marks under the gas carrier key that allowed gas to escape and caused the gun to short stroke… Young Mfg replaced it and the second one runs fine.
One of these days I will change to a standard BCG and see if the groups change. I questioned the benefit of the mated bolt, but a friend who holds the NRA 500 yd record in F class with the same barrel/bolt set up told me he did some testing and the gun is more accurate with the mated bolt. Like I, he was skeptical before he conducted the testing. He is a little better shot than I.
