So I was shooting my Ciener conversion the other day and about 3 mags in I guess the bolt did not go completely into battery and got a bit of a scare as the gun still fired. Oil and debris blew back into my face, and a huge amount of smoke shot out the ejection port. When I recovered the case the rim was almost completely seperated. Could have been bad had I not been wearing eye protection.
I’ve run the Ciener conversion for about 4 years now and have never had that happen before. Anybody else have this happen? This incident has made me leary of using it anymore.
I was told by the owner/maker of spikes conversion that they have stopped selling just the conversion and will now only sell the complete upper. The reason for this is because they have had so many customers headaches with the thing malfunctioning after a few clips. This is because once it gets the littlest bit dirty and carboned the system fails to operate correctly.
I don’t know if this is the case with yours but a possibility I wanted to throw out there.
I don’t own a conversion yet but want to get one if it works properly. I might just shell out the extra cash for the complete spikes upper.
