Would you buy this DPMS LR-308?

An individual local to me is selling a DPMS LR-308 Oracle in excellent shape for $575. I’m usually not into DPMS stuff but at that price I thought about taking a chance on it just to play around with as that seems like a decent deal. Just wondering if you fellas would pick it up or pass on it at that price?

I recently acquired a new 16 Bushmaster 308 for 599 on a sale at lowcal dealer. For a truck gun / trailing wounded black bears. Great for the money. Supper accurate.

$599 sounds like a good deal, especially from a dealer.

DPMS’s .308 guns have always been somewhat better than their .223 guns, and are also the only .308 AR platform that you can readily buy the whole range of replacement parts for. If you’re not expecting LMT/KAC quality and refinement, go for it.

Yeah, I definitely wouldn’t expect top tier quality. I have a Colt 6720 that serves as my go to defensive carbine so this would be just something to mess around with. Anyway, I went ahead and bought it. I think I could always resell it and at least get my money back if I didn’t like it.

If going with DPMS, I’d get their G2 .308 instead.
My logic is this, just hear me out. The G2 is a bit lighter, and seems to be made with better materials to the best of my knowledge. If you start outfitting the rifle with decent optics, BUIS, stock, muzzle device, and feeding it ammo (.308 isn’t cheap), the cost of the gun itself becomes a smaller factor in the big picture. Since I don’t like swapping optics, and my safe has only so much room, I opt for guns that I either really like and/or are solid.
I’m not saying this is or isn’t a good gun, I’m just saying I’d weigh all of that before deciding. I hope that made sense. I’m going on no sleep for a few days running.
