WISCONSIN GOVERNOR THREATENS TO CALL NATIONAL GUARD

The Wisconsin Governor threatened to mobilize the states National Guard to control state union workers. http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message1362135/pg1 Sorry for the lousy link. I watched this on Fox News this morning but couldn’t find anything on their website.

Government workers should not be allowed to join unions.

I agree. Most “quote” civil servants I refer to as Self Servants. I think its great that someone is willing to stand up to these unions. These unions seem to have no humility what so ever.

The trouble with allowing public employees to unionize is they can, without too much trouble gain favor with the politicians and in effect sit on both sides of the negotiating table. We are having a city election in a month. As my wife and I were taking a walk I wrote down a list of addresses where a certain mayoral candidate’s signs appear. I took the list to the computer and searched the Property Appariser’s web site to get names. I then went to the local newspaper’s website. They have a database of all local government employees, city, county, state and independent authority. I searched the names and found 19 out of 20 were city, fire or sheriff’s employees.

Agreed - making a living off of the backs of one’s fellow citizens should exempt one from union membership. Don’t like it? Go work in the private sector.

Perhaps more to the point of the article, government workers who riot should be immediately dismissed. When there is a danger of government workers rioting, we really have an upside down system. Typically it is the disenfranchised people left out of the system who riot. Government workers are the core of the system. If they riot, who are they rioting against? Themselves?

Can you imagine FBI agents rioting?

The whole concept of government workers rioting is hard for me to get my small brain around.

Minor quibble with this - there is no profit motive for the government, so by definition they are unable to negotiate effectively with the unions.

If you’re doing a job that pays you with tax payer dollars, you better expect cuts from time to time.

Things keep getting better. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/02/17/teachers-march-wisconsin-capitol-senate-moves-curtail-union-rights/

Looks like the Wisconsin Democrats have jumped the shark. Think there will be any consequences, or will the dummies keep votin’ em back in?

The teachers “called in sick” to march. I just got off of the floor after laughing uncontrollably at the Democrats being a now show. They seem to think this is a compromise between doing what their union masters demand and following the will of the voters who are not unionized.

I wish Wisconsin luck in breaking the police and firefighter unions as well.

3 words… Right to work…

Ah, the State Police have been dispatched to bring in the cowards doing the bidding of their union masters as if the Dems do a no show, there is no vote.

Come on, K9 units!

Wish these Dem bums could be held accountable, wether by law or the voters. I’m not going to hold my breath.

Public Unions and Democrats are just reminding the taxpayers who they slave for.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with allowing Public Employees to form a union. It is their first amendment right to assemble and discuss. They should have the same 1st amendment rights as anyone else.

The problem is collective bargaining. That is where Public Unions jump the shark. All of these problems are caused by collective bargaining.

I am a public employee and am against public employess having the power to strike and shut down the government. The power to discuss, pursuade and redress greivances is sufficient and only moral. The power to coerce should be denied.

Oh, I think there’s many other problems with unions. Unions donating millions of their members dues to political campaigns is a huge problem.

That is tied back to the whole collective bargaining thing. It all comes back to CB. PE Unions that do not engage in CB do not have huge warchests and large dues to fund thembecause there is no need for a strike slush fund. That is where the money for the political pay-outs come from.

No one wants to take away their first amendment rights. But the boss should be able to hire and fire without dealing with a union. Right to work. The unions are a poison to our country.

Nothing wrong with the employer firing every union member, either.
