John Noveske makes some good barrels, I don’t think anyone doubts that. I am fortunate enough to be issued a rifle with a Noveske 16" barrel built to my unit’s specs and I own 2 more of his barrels on personal guns. Apart from that, John is truly one of the good guys and has been extremely kind to me in the past.
This barrel surpassed my (pretty high) expectations for accuracy. I shot a 3 rd, 100M group of MK262MOD1 into one ragged hole to confirm its zero. The barrel is so accurate I use a 1" dot as an aiming point. I have engaged targets in excess to 600M with this rifle using MK262 and Hornady 75GR BTHP match ammo and I might as well have a laser gun. It’s hard to shoot this gun poorly, and I think it’s more a factor of good glass/great barrel than shooter aptitude…
Colt M4 lower
Vltor Stock
Accuracy Speaks FA match trigger
SPR grip
Colt upper
Noveske 16" barrel, Cerakote tan
PRI free-float tube (I’d rather have a Larue or KAC but it wasn’t up to me)
PRI flip-up front
SF scout light in Larue Mount
ATIPAL LA-5 laser
OPS INC brake/supressor
SB Short Dot in a Larue 1.93 and a KAC 600M buis
BFG Vickers padded sling with Nomex front. Hopefully this version is available now (or very soon), it’s awesome.
All I have is M4 zero tgts, so I have to make do with what I’ve got…
-I don’t know about anyone else but the thought of you and Hump together…chills, just chills and
-John is also very generous with his time to the non-HSLD amongst us. He had made some pretty cool barrels for me that are without exception supremely accurate. My Recon 16 is on loan overseas where I hear it is doing God’s work. My 12.5 Crusader is simply the greatest shooting upper I have ever seen. I really believe it is the best barrel he makes.
I’m sure I hear the footsteps of haters coming (haters-people who have to disagree for the mere purpose of disagreeing not people who prefer something else or can make an argument for another brand. That’s fine and it can be done) but I will not buy anything else. I have a 16" lightweight coming to replace my retired primary and it will be my 12th Noveske barrel. Like Colt, LaRue and KAC, they are worth every penny you pay.
Noveske’s products are all well engineered, but the real issue is that he is a great American. John, like very few others, has set an example of how to take care of people and maintain a profitable business, all while staying professional.
Dude, there’s a lot of stuff I could use here in your safe…
I need a 10.5 416, some Aimpoint magnifiers, that Colt 1911 for old-times sake when I used one, I know you have another Short Dot squirreled away, an HK21 or four, and a Pandur assault truck, SkyNet, maybe some cans…
The are above average in repsects of accuracy and reliability for a CM barrel, thanks to the polygonal bore and chamber John uses. Of note is that the chrome lining is 2X as thick as most barrels which leads to a longer barrel life.
They are awesome barrels. For most applications they would be more than suitable. I would not feel undergunned with one.
