Why I love my AR15...

So I have been wanting to write this for quite awhile, This is a thread on why I love my M4 Carbine, I am not just reffering to my
M4…I would like to state why I love the AR15 platform in general.

This is what I have come up with, everything in here is not meant to be offensive or bash on anyone or any other platforms.

  1. Versatility: I love the AR15 because of its versatility, COUNTLESS configurations, THOUSANDS of accesories by hundreds of manufacturers. You can config. your rifle pretty much however you want, so much to the fact that they even have different names, the SBR, RECCE, Middy, M4, SPR, A2, Rifle length, Pistol Etc. Anything you want and for pretty much ANY purpose you need it for, it even has different calibers ranging from .22 to .308. You can do anything with them, customization limited ONLY by your imagination! Which brings me to my next reason…

  2. Forums: WE (and I emphasize) WE…LOVE our AR’s so much that we have forums on them, we talk, discuss, argue, envy, love and hate…on forums. While M4Carbine is the standard for forums, there are many where we congregate to talk about this versatile platform made possible by our Eugene Stoner. (Big thank you to Mr.Stoner). that brings us to …

  3. History: The AR15 has history. Its been around awhile, Its seen thousands of different countries over the past 40 years or so. Its protected us americans and fought with brave soldiers over the years. Its an american icon.

  4. Class: The AR15 has class, it reprensents taste and transfers over from peoples character, like a car in a way. It suits us, OUR rifles serve a purpose to us. An AK is ugly, It goes off everytime sure, An AK is like a dog, its loyal and it works, its always there when you need it…but an AR has class, it has personality, it demands our attention, its tempramental, they need love to run right.
Take care of them and you get good results…kind of like a girlfriend. However…try to be a cheapskate and save money and cut corners…bad news. So an AR15 is like a girlfriend, an AK is like a dog. both are good, but ONE has CLASS!

  5. No two are the same: Actually this might no be true, its possible that you see another AR SIMILAR to another, but the chances of them having all the same components are remote, and even if they do, chances are they wont run EXACTLY THE SAME. Like I formentioned, the THOUSANDS of different parts and accesories we are able to put on OUR rifles to make them OURS.
They get personalized with stickers, VFG’s, AFG’S, BCG’S, AMBI’S on our MIDDY’S or RDS’S on our SBR’S, DDQuad rail VIS FreeFloat anti-roll pins Chrome lined "F"marked front sight tower Poly collapsable billet or stamped custom port door covers!
I love my AR15. There are stickers, hats , T-shirts, Morale patches, Coffe mugs, movies, video games, AIRSOFT. ALL are inspiring to us to do a new rifle or get on the forum and post threads about how excited we are about our upcoming builds or take pics on what just arrived today in the mail from BCM.
We take pics of us holding shooting or posing our rifles in every possible way. This is why I LOVE my AR15.
Thanks guys and if I missed anything please post!

That’s quite the word fort ya got there, try using the enter key.

I read exactly 3.50 words before my head started to hurt.

Nice post. To those who have to be Nelly Negative: It’s called tact and I do believe it’s free of charge.

Why thank you. I fixed it so people could read more than 3.5 words

Its seen thousands of different countries over the past 40 years or so…HUH??? Maybe u meant dozens instead of thousands??? They do sound similar…thousands…dozens.

I put that in there to see if you would catch it…congrats, you get a free cookie

For what it is, it is exceptionally modular, and has the best aftermarket support because of how light and easy to accurately shoot it is.

We can work around its imperfections because those few traits are so desirable in the hands of civilians and highly trained shooters.

It’s nothing really that special - the AK and FAL are superiour weapons for many purposes, and usually for less money.

I can agree with some things you say for sure. I just love it. I have a few friends that say the same thing and thats cool. Some people love it and some hate it. This thread really wasnt meant to start shit with anyone at all. It is a simple thread on why I like this platform. Thats it.

I feel like I stumbled into a blog.

I go in cycles, it seems. I trained with M-16A1’s and A2’s when I was in the Active Duty Marines '85-'91, then picked up an SKS when they were less than a hundred bucks. A few years later I got into M-14’s in a big way, and then got back into the AR platform a while later.

I picked up my SKS-M (para length, AK-mags) a while ago, and holy shit, what a front-heavy pig it is. I’ve obviously really gotten used to my Colt 6520 LW carbean.

I still want a 6933 though. :dirol:

That would be so cool. Im starting an 11.5 myself in just a few weeks here. It would be really cool having the Commando though.

Yeah, I’m just going to go the ‘Already Manufactured SBR’ route. Gotta get this credit card cleaned up a bit first though. :stuck_out_tongue:

No shame in that. Especially it being a Colt. I have some cash saved up, It was gonna be either for a 1911 or my tax stamp and lower.

I like my AR and I wanted to post something. I’ll be quiet now.

Shot my first AR15 back in '79 , on the farm …

Pulled the trigger the first time and hit an aerosol can at 50yrds , love at first pull …

Started selling them in '84 … back when there were basically only Colt’s Sporters , Oly Arms and Quality Parts … my , how things have changed in 30 yrs …

Ah, the Colt Commando 6933. I have the $$$$ for it but unfortunately the state I live in. . .

On the thread’s note, I’ve always had a “fascination” for the M-16/AR-15/M4 since growing up in a neighborhood adjacent to Fort Schafter in the early 70s and watching all those fellows with their rifles going in and out of the fort.

Aloha! I spent three years at Kaneohe Bay. Good duty.

All 9 of my long guns are AR’s, and it’s the platform I’m most proficient at operating. For a civilian with disposable income it can be the best platform by a wide margin, but it’s not perfect and neither is it the best in every application. It can be tailored to be fantastic at certain applications, and very easily made into something very good across a wide range.

@Wrangler - Aloha bro. 2.5 down…

That’s the truth!
