Should I look for 556 or 762? Does it matter? I want another x4 ACOG. 14.5 barrel length. I understand I’m not reaching out too far with this round, but area target should be about 300. ??
TIA Been lurking for quit some time. Great site.

You might want to ask on the http://www.300blktalk.com/forum/ forum. My guess is the holdovers wouldn’t be so bad at 300 with something like a 200 zero that you couldn’t do reasonably with more or less whatever you want.

It does not really matter. You may need to fiddle around a bit with ballistic calculator and zero range to get a perfect match for the your specific cartridge. You need to know the reticle dimension (published on this very forum) , bc of the bullet an th muzzle velocity and you are good to go.
I spent maybe two hours running different options through the calculator and got this:

That is for a 5,56 ACOG and it works for a 7,62x39 firing a 123gr FMJ at mv0 of 710m/s zeroed in with th center of the donut at 150m range. A supersonic 300blk would be quite close to those figures.
