This place is killin me,I’m not sure if its my browser or what but I open the site and its there but when I click on things it just goes blank with only the edges of the site showing ! WTF is that about. I just logged in on Firefox and it seems better but not sure if its “Edge” browser or something else. I use to be a huge fan over @ M14 Forum and there are still some of the old school guys around and some decent peeps in general but just not feeling it as much as the old days. I go over to Barcom when I need to really sell something but even that’s dropped of a lot! I do hang @ the CZ Forum but those guys drive me nuts,theres a thread about what ammo should I shoot in my CZ Shadow 2,I think its been going for 6 month,WTF,yea CZs are different but it ain’t friggin rocket science but I guess some people think it is!
I enjoy the info here and there are some great guys but it just seems more of a challenge everyday and the traffic is way down that’s for sure. I guess I’ll just hang around and hope for the best,maybe someone will finally give a f**K and straighten shit out,if not I’ll just mill around in the back,LOL
They changed the format in their EE last year and a lot of people said “eff it” and just don’t use the EE anymore……
Have read where the scams in their EE have risen significantly.
M-14forum is a damn good place for information on that weapon as well as the M1 and Carbine. Been there for years and they don’t tolerate much bullshit. Yeah, probably an “older” crowd as compared to here or BARFCOM, but knowledgeable as hell!
The correlation here between the “old” forums and the new one, and the popularity is hard to ignore. Sure, the aesthetics of the “old” site were a plus and what we were all comfortable with, but it goes beyond that. Can’t quite put my finger on it…
Yeah, the “Hawk” years were good until they weren’t! We went through some big drama, but it finally got sorted out. I still go there and normally look up tonyben or Old Sarge and laugh about the old days. They’re both really good dudes, along with many others. Yeah, it’s weird,cuz your user name has always been familiar, and now I know why, LOL I joined in Jan of 2004, and you’re March 2004, so ya a couple of old timers over there! Maybe once the weather breaks in my area, I’ll start bringing my M1a rifles out a bit more and start posting some more over there & maybe here if things get bearable,LOL. Time will tell I guess.
When the format changed here we lost visibility on members’ feedback, post count and join date. All important if you are going to buy something sight unseen off this forum. I won’t buy anything again unless I am very familiar with the member.
Reddits not bad, in some ways the like ranking of posts helps good answers rise. YMMV, but the joke is that put your question into google search, but use ‘Reddit’ as the last word to get those posts to come up.
I thought this site was dead because pages didn’t have any posts, then I realized I needed to scroll down to see anything besides just black (iPad and Safari).
As previously mentioned, Reddit, but mostly Snipershide due to working on a 6ARC build, getting back into 22LR long range, and my son wanting to get into PRS/ELR. The ‘local’ ar-15.co for Colorado is OK, especially with all the new gun laws here in CO.
But to be honest, I’m spending less time in forums. Actually shooting and a boss that isn’t happy with me (the two are NOT related in any way ;). ) are taking up my time.

Thats what happened to me.
I said something, someone misquoted & misunderstood what said. A couple others repeated the misquote / misunderstanding, then i was perma-banned.
I did appeal but there is no such process and i was met with a wall.
Just threw away a decent member. I guess at the time they felt they had an infinite supply and could discard them adhoc.
Forums in general are losing relevance, it’s not just here.
Yeah, all the electronically-addled retards are moving to realtime instant-chats like Discord, Telegram, Signal etc.
Which I hate.
I’m on Signal, and have used it alot, but whilr it’s a great simple communication tool, it’s terrible for orderly discussion of multiple topics.
Forums can keep everything in threads. Even when you have a shitload of different discussion groups within a Signal group, the sp3cific convo gets lost down in the crawl, so to speak. Makes it WAY hard to just scan for topics.
It gets REALLY cluttered when you try to run it like a forum. Great for some things, not for others.

Most of thier good deals are in their mobile app now… it helps that the manager at mine’s a gun-guy (used to run an armored car business, it turns out) so he’s given me some pointers on gaming the system. (Which I try to make sure to give enough business to cancel out, since I gotta stock the fridge anyway and Her Peevishness thinks I’m Doordash-on-a-bus.)
