When even Bill Maher gets it...

He gives no quarter to the left here, and is sounding more like a libertarian all the time. When even Maher sees how Fu%d they have become, and calls them out, it’s bad:

While I completely agree with how far the left is, people like Bill want Big Government, but want it to be smarter, more streamlined and for the people, which historically, is never what Big Government never turns into

I’m sure he will be labelled a white supremacist after making such comments.

It sounds like Bill thinks that a gov. should provide everything for the people, and is able to do this without infringing on any freedoms.
He sounds like an eternal optimist to me. Or blindly trusting of others.

Well if your an old white person you are most-likely racist unless of course you’re Joe, Chuck, or Nancy

Well, you gotta love someone who will call it like he sees it.

“Y’all just don’t understand. All powerful, big government is good. I know it has failed countless times before, but that’s because nobody has done all powerful, big government the right way.”

Any government big enough to give you everything you want, is powerful enough to take everything you have.

He is getting excoriated by the left for these comments. I mean, they are just vicious.

Sure Bill wants big government, but he openly admits he’s a “unmarried, childless pot smoking libertine who never matured”. Daydreaming about idyllic scenarios is perfectly fine, but the people who do that aren’t the people we should vote into government office to set policy. Even Bill admitted in this monologue that not every problem can be fixed by a regulation. So by default, he’d be a better candidate for political office in California than pretty much every other candidate they’ve had in decades. Now that’s some USDA Prime irony right there.

The last few years have had me viewing things through the lens of personality. This led me to lectures and talks given by people like Jonathan Haidt of NYU. He once spoke about work he was involved in that showed that persons high in trait Openness to Experience (referencing the Big Five personality analysis) tend to display a blind spot for unintended consequences. Openness strongly correlates with leftwing political views and also high IQ. This was all part of a discussion that highlighted the importance of both conservative and liberal minded people within a civilization, as one is perpetually bored with status quo and constantly has new ideas (most of which will be bad or impractical) while the other is irritated at divergence from the status quo, is good at pointing out practical flaws in ideas, but doesn’t innovate or adapt to changing environments well.

Through this lens, it seems clear that Bill Maher is high in trait openness and so very nearly blind to the negative consequences of many utopian ideas- yet has started to notice that the implementation of some of those bad ideas has caught his couch on fire.

I’ll say this about Bill. In over two decades, he really hasn’t changed his stance substantially on anything. That’s more than can be said for the majority of elected officials in this country.

Bills been ripping everyone he doesn’t agree with for years, so I’m fine with this.

Yep, he’s always been a socialist, quasi communist operating under the delusion that he’s a libertarian. And now that we actually have the kind of government he’s been calling for for YEARS…he doesn’t like it and they are coming for him for recognizing it’s faults.
