The no votes included an extremely unusual coalition: AOC was joined on the left by three of her staunchest progressive allies, including Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) and Rep. Cori Bush (D-Missouri).
They were joined by four of the most extreme right-wing Republican lawmakers, including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-Fla.), Rep. Chip Roy (R-Tex.) and Rep. Tom Massie (R-Ky.)
Greene and Cawthorn have been harshly critical of the Ukrainian government and have spouted pro-Putin talking points, while Massie is fiercely opposed to U.S. involvement in overseas conflicts.
I will give Massie a pass, he is a consistent 1930s style isolationist.

I’m surprised and maybe a bit disappointed by AOC and her team. I thought they were all about wealth distribution from the haves to the have-nots… Take money from Putin and give it to Zelenski.
I like her strong convictions, toughness, and uncompromising position on issues. I hope AOC follows her strong principles when she’s the President.
Interesting. The vote here does follow the pretty well-proven Russian pattern of playing both extremes against the middle. Communists and Qanon types have been united in thinking that Putin was going to save the world from the evils of the West.
The issue at hand is one that I’d be very curious to know about its wording/applicability. If the bill would have the government seize the assets of Russian oligarchs only, with protections against doing similar to anyone with American citizenship, I’m more on board with it. That’s pretty typical war-time behavior. If it includes no such protections and could be used against American citizens, even those with a pro-Russian bent, I very much oppose it.
Thinking principles for the right… on the far left that might be a possibility, but I don’t see those four as really having any principles. More likely Soros et al thought their assets might be at risk and directed this vote.

Seriously though, there are no “good guys” in this opening stage of WW3. Putin - nuff said. Zelensky is also a strongman, and mysteriously wealthy. The globalists / NWO / Great Reset crowd are getting what they want, and we’re basically at war with Russia. The foremost reason I voted against Killary and for Trump in 2016.
Before I would count Marjorie Taylor Greene as crazy I would ask myself why she is under constant attack, anyone under that much attention is likely doing something most would agree with. When she got to the house there would be 8-9 Repubs and Dems in the house voting on bills, she read the rules and discovered that any member could call for a full floor vote and started doing that which pissed off both sides. At first she was the only one doing it so they would just wait until she had to go the bathroom and then those 8-9 would vote on major bills, now there is a small group that can relieve each other.
I like the fact that she makes her positions heard. Unlike majority of politicians from both parties which either can’t come up with any concrete/reasonable arguments, or simply say “i’ll vote whatever my party votes for”. Majority fall in the second category.
I have yet to see a single proof or a criminal case that a U.S. senator or representative ever worked in the interest of or acted on behalf of another country, even a friendly one.
Most of the articles I’ve seen were basically - “he had a contact with someone suspected of being an agent”, or “such and such traveled somewhere, where they should not have been”
Unless you have a proof, accusations have are baseless. Bernie Sanders often expresses his contrary position, but regardless of your opinion of him or his viewpoints, I don’t think anyone would accuse him of acting for some other entity/government/party.
Whenever I read an article/post/commentary regarding asset forfeiture, I am vehemently against it. No matter whose assets the .gov steals, it may only be a matter of time, based on precedence, that your assets may/will be subject to seizure as well. To redistribute wealth, let us seize the assets of those who have a net worth of over 100M, next year 50M, after that 10M, heck no one needs more than $1M, let’s seize anything over $500K…
I think we crossed that bridge long ago. Asset forfeiture is SOP in many cases even if people haven’t been convicted yet. If you are dealing with ATF and they claim you have committed some violation, you are probably going to lose your inventory.
It’s not just AFT it’s all DOJ. Assets compared to debt and income is one of the first things scrutinized when some alphabet group learns of your name. And from there it’s “what can we tie to the nefarious dealings”. Because then those items are considered ill gotten gains. And then they are auctioned or put into use. Usually auctioned and the monies distributed to various agencies.
Greene was crazy for sure but she was generally crazy from the right, not among Washington’s left-wing kook crazies. Then for some reason she went full retard anti-Trump. Never did get that. Off her meds? Wanting 15min of leftist media seal-clapping fame? Anyway… the last chapter in her congressional story.
