Well BCM makes a great bolt and carrier and makes middies so definitely would be a top choice for for a bcg replacement.
I suppose the main advantage is peace of mind knowing that the parts taking the most abuse in your rifle are the best. Or you could just buy BCM’s extractor kit to upgrade yours if you really don’t want to invest in a spare.
gotm4, you’re saying not to use the O-ring in a midlength? I’ve heard that from others too. ArmaLite ships their middies with the O-ring but people say it’s more appropriate for carbine length gas systems.
A mid-length shouldn’t need one and I wouldn’t use it. Just get a Colt extractor spring and insert from Brownells or a carbine one from Bravo Company or whoever has them.
my MGI with mid barrel has plenty of tension with out O-ring about need to go to blue insert due to having too much tension on extracter so far still braking in though beta mag and 7 P Mags so far.
The LE6920 comes with a black buffer is the spring HD? I,m assuming those manufacturers that supply the black buffer couple them with a HD spring. I did install a D-fender ring on my extractor right off the bat and have had zero issue with this configuration with a round count of 3,500. I’m hoping I’m not putting unnecessary stress on the extractor.
Same question here - is my BCM extractor spring so strong that the addition of the O- ring that came with it will cause feed problems? my set up would then be BCM spring, black insert, and O-ring. my gun is mid length.
Sorry if this is redundant, but it seems like there are some varying opinions on this and I want to be sure what the consensus is. An older thread mentioned using all three of these parts together with no problems, but I could not tell if those users were referring to mid-length or carbines only or what.
