Whats so bad about them...

DPMS that is. It seems most people here tend to frown upon DPMS products. Im just curious as to the reasons exactly. What prompted this post is a buddy who owns a shop/range says he’s about to become a DPMS dealer. Just curious guys, thanks.

Lack of consistent QC, non mil-spec parts, and a nasty habit of breaking bolts under heavy use. The chambers are almost always cut to .223 Rem vs. 5.56mm.

I see, that makes sense then.

What about the lowers???

I have a lower and have had no problems yet, should i expect any issues in the future???

The vast majority of lowers are perfectly fine as long as the holes are drilled in the right places.

The thing about DPMS in general is that there are better options for the same money. This applies to the complete guns as well as stripped receivers.

For a dealer they’re great. Most people that are looking to spend at that price aren’t going to shoot the gun enough to realize it’s shortcomings, and they are unlikely to ever be in a position to need the gun to protect themselves or others.

I’ve built a few DPMS lowers and they seemed fine. I didn’t use their LPKs so I can’t comment on them but the stripped lowers seemed good to go.

Yeh, same here, I picked up a couple stripped lowers before the ban, but haven’t had any problems. Also I’ve put guite a few rounds through them with no ill effects yet. Maybe its comming soon:(

What do you guys think about their parts? I use CMT’s stuff as back up but ordered a few of their ping and pin kits because they were cheap:p

Well Ive heard the same thing about Sherluk. However my upper is quite accurate, and I havent had any problems from it. Then again, im not shooting a thousand rounds in two days either. I am however gonna swap out the BCG for something of higher quality though, such as BCM or LMT.

I’m not trying to stir the shit or prove anything, but I saw this thread and felt the need to ask: Among those here at M4Carbine, if you were forced to choose between DPMS or Bushmaster, which brand would you opt for?

LOL Neither as there is always a choice!

For the time being, you are correct!:stuck_out_tongue:

I kinda get the feeling that the question you asked is so you can hear hey DPMS is way worse than Bushmaster and Bushmaster blows it away. This is based on your past posts and that this otherwise is a irelevant question.

I dont get it?

The question I have about DPMS, is what is good about them? Can anyone tell me how or why they are better than say a Colt or an LMT?

With so many better choices… I don’t even consider DPMS as an option when it comes to AR’s… I leave them for the uninformed masses who don’t know any better…:stuck_out_tongue:

And I don’t waste MY time explaining why to anyone… cause they don’t get it any how…

More then enough info and clues out here in cyberspace for a smart buyer to research… learn and then choose…

I tend to agree with you and is why I have come up with a new strategy. Instead of me taking hours to explain what is wrong with them, I am going to ask the person that likes brand XYZ what is good about them. I am sure I will get a lot of “The black anodizing is really perfect” and “It shoots real well off the bench.”

What I don’t agree with is that there are enough “clues” on the errornet to guide people in the right direction. If I post a thread on TOS, and ask how many people think BM, RRA, DPMS, etc make a fantastic AR, I will get TONS of “+1’s” and “they are the best.” If we (M4C members) do not try and educate the masses about what is quality and what is not, we are letting our fellow defensive minded shooters down IMHO.

cool. I was just curious, thanks guys. I know now what brands to stick to and why just from reading the forum here.

my bad

I would suggest that you start a new thread with your question as you most likely won’t get the info you want this way.
