What caused this????

Info:

I picked up these cases after our FOB was attacked a while ago. They were fired by one of the OSG security guys that work on base and I’ve only ever seen them carry AKs. They are definitely 7.62x39 because it’s stamped on one of the cases.

What do you think caused this? Maybe one of their goofy home-made AKs?

If those came from the same rifle, I’d say that either the chamber throat is worn away, or the chamber is so gummed up that the cartridge isn’t seating all the way in the chamber but will still fire.

It could also be that that is the way that particular case was made. Perhaps it some sort of universal casing that is easier to swell out for the 9x39mm while also being used for the 7.62x39. It almost looks as though a 9x39 casing was necked down to a 7.62xx39.

Shot in a 7.62 nato or a Mosin-Nagant?

I wonder if it could have been fired in a 7.62x45 Czech chamber?

I wouldn’t think that it work in a 7.62x54 chamber as it is a rimmed casing. I suppose they could have shot it out of a Pakastani G3, but then you’d probably notice chamber fluting marks on it.

I’m going to take a far out, wild ass guess. 7.62x39 fired out of a 8mm Kurtz/ 7.92x33.

Way out of spec chamber. If he were using a brass case I could see it kb’ing.

If only…

Let’s hope that happens.

I saw a lot of AKs over there that looked like shoulder fired IEDs waiting to remove the user’s face, but damn if they didn’t function. All it takes is a lucky shot. Be safe over there OP.

Rifle was made in the Paki arms shops is my guess.
