Just saw that the topic on TOS got locked. Aslo, Griz made a great point, but his post is somehow missing now…??? Did anybody else read it? It WAS on page 10, but is now gone…hmmmm.
What was the point he was making? ![]()
I know if I ask these questions over there what the answers would be, so I am asking over here. This should clear things up first person.
[ul]
Is the e-mail published over there true or is it a hoax?
If it is true, Grant would know who he sent it out to, so would you care to share that info?
If it is true, do you think price fixing is fair?
If it is not true, who would be trying to ruin your business on the net?
Is this grounds for an investigation on slander where Grant is the victim or on antitrust where Grant is the Plaintiff?
[/ul]
I have heard nothing but good things about Grant’s business dealings, even though I have been at the srong end of a few threads, but that’s the internet. The above has nothing to do with the internet, it has to do with business. Someone is being dishonest, whether you think they are a good guy or not, and there are fans on both sides of this, but either way, at least one is being totally dishonest and dishonorable.
Honestly, it was fairly long and I hope he is able to repost it here. If I tried to put it into words, I would just fail. Mainly because it was his thought and not mine. I do remember it being good, though…
Cyclic- I knew I was going to get banned one day after the airsoft optic stuff. I couldn’t keep my nose out of it. I am just surprised they put up with me then and NOT wait until when I called Silvers a liar.
He he, I was surprised I was not banned either. I gave more then a few MODS and ADMIN there hell openly and in private within those clone wars threads. ![]()
We have engaged our lawyer so I really cannot comment on most of your questions (sorry). I will speak hypothetically though and try to help you out.
I honestly don’t remember what e-mail I sent last week let alone over two years ago (sorry). I have had many conversations with several dealers in question about their pricing. I am also a Distr. for a good number of products and a lot of dealers on ARFCOM are dealers under me. Per the manufacturers request, I watch the dealers that purchase from me and make sure they are following the company’s MAP program. Some of the companies do not have a formal MAP policy, but the manufacturer likes to see prices held close to retail.
Price fixing for sure is not fair and the federal govt takes these types of things seriously. We do our best to follow all laws.
The majority of dealers discuss what they sell gear for with other dealers. They tend to all follow the same prices (all of which are generally well below MAP). So the notion that the consumer is getting a bum deal just isn’t accurate.
If you read the locked thread in this forum, it is my opinion that Juan got upset by what some of the members on here said and thought it was a good idea to take it out on me (as he couldn’t go after them).
I hope that I have helped clear some things up.

Tag for later. I think this current shenanigans is to stir up something between this site and Arfcom which was totally unnecessary.
Yep, they locked my account for it which I took as a confirmation that I hit the nail on the head and struck a nerve.
I basically pointed out that
-
Goatboy started that thread airing very old but very dirty laundry as a direct retaliation for Grant’s comments in the “business practices” thread here.
-
ARFCOM is now, if Goatboy’s allegations are true, harboring participants in a price fixing ring.
-
Assuming the allegations are true, every advertiser on ARFCOM must be presumed guilty of price-fixing.
I provided the out for ARFCOM by stating that if Goatboy really started that thread out of an altruistic concern for the consumer, he must inform us of all the participants in the alleged price fixing ring…
I can’t believe they locked you for that!!!
Luckily, I was on another comp and haven’t refreshed the screen, so here is what Griz got banned for:
-Grant starts a website that competes with AR15.com with backing by serious industry professionals, potentially threatening AR15.com’s future revenue
-Grant bashes AR15.com in a thread on his new site
-Goatboy retaliates with this thread dredging up very old but very dirty laundry.
No one in this mess is clean. Why is it that money and guns (ok, maybe just money) brings out the worst in people?
If this thread was posted out of an altruistic concern for the consumer, why are the other participants in the price-fixing ring being protected? As a consumer who spends about $20k a year on gun stuff, I want to know who does not deserve my hard earned dollars.
As it stands now, every single advertiser here must be presumed guilty so I’m pretty much left with whatever toys I can buy at the true Wal-Marts of the industry such as Midway and Brownells.
Odd. Griz wasn’t the only one to make that assertion.
I look back on this in a few years and laugh.
Guess the other thread is locked, big surprise.
At least you know Goatboy is reading this site if he started all this over the other thread. ![]()
Griz, that summary was spot on and hopefully worth your banning over there. ![]()
Also, as far as I can tell, Grant told me that he sent that only to one other company. Just to clear the air, Grant, was that email forwarded to a bunch of others or just the one you told me about?
Fixed it for ya’
I wonder how many posting are actually licensed to practice law. ![]()
Me! I know this guy that cooked me up a license… ![]()
My only regret is I felt more comfortable over there than here. I feel very out of place here where I see serious professionals and HSLD types sharing their knowledge. I’m just an overweight Electrical Engineer who works in an air conditioned laboratory all day.
I also happen to spend much of my disposable income on “toys” that launch high speed projectiles. I have no illusions of being a mall ninja or whatever, I don’t even own any “tactical” gear, but I do put an obscene number of rounds downrange every year and know the AR15/M16 inside and out.
Griz, due to the exact reasons of your post and the fact you got locked, is why I am here. And I feel as uncomfortable as you do.
They locked my account TOO! First time that’s ever happened.
Interstingly I have not been locked yet, despite my opinion that both the G&R and the LW issues were handled horribly and that the handling of both spoke volumes about which side the arfcom bread is buttered on.
Guys, you need not be “HSLD” to feel comfortable around here… Make yourselves at home. The fact that you “own up” to being an everyday guy that shoots a lot is what matters. You can learn from others, and others can learn from you knowing your background and experience.
It’s those folks that buy a rifle and proclaim to be super-mega-tactical-operators that should feel a little uncomfortable here… because there are people knowledgeable enough to spot you a mile away.
I figured that mine would be locked also, especially after that whole “Best Psyop is based in a well tweaked truth” post.
