Weight of Your Carbine

My AR is pretty damned heavy. BCM Middy w/ Larue 12, Accupoint, UBR, G2L mounted out front. I think it weighs a hair over 10 lbs.

Shoots, balances, and handles great. I don’t think it’s too heavy for use, but I’m afraid it’s going to kick my butt at class. Spending all day holding it on target is a bit artificial for a civvy like me, but there’s still the issue of it being an impediment to learning.

My BM M4gery KISS carbine.

G&R Magpul CTR Carbine Stock MIL-Spec Package, BCM bolt upgrade kit, MAID, MOE handguards, tritium front post, FSC556. Blue Force Gear sling adds about 5 oz., waiting for a G,G&G front QD Sling Thing to install. The neutered lugless barrel has to be saving me at least an ounce our two.

I’ve got a chance to reweighted and the correct amount is around 9lbs this time including VTAC sling.

Forget about how much it weighs and hit the gym.

I am not being facetious, or a smart arse. In all seriousness, if a day at the range and a 9lbs poodle shooter is wearing you down? You need to rethink your exercise regime.

Strap a 203 on that bitch and the try humping with armour, your ruck, enough batteries to run a city and all the gunners spare ammo, then don’t change you boxers for a weak. Now tell me if your AR is too heavy…

STG-556 w/Aimpoint Micro, taclight, sling and 42rd mag loaded w/75gr TAP weighs in right at 8.75lbs.

This is AR General discussion, please stay on topic.

im running a RRA heavy barrel 16" w/ ACOG TA31f, pentagon md series flashlight with laser. larue vertical grip, DD OMEGA rail.

… but i do have a 37mm launcher on the way. this bad boy will be well over 10 LBS!!! no worries tho!

…shell make a great dumbbell hehe!!!

5 lb. 1 oz. (without magazine):

Honestly, no. I’ve shot less than 200 rounds through it to date. But so far so good. I think that it could hold up to some abuse but I have not tested it hard yet.

About 8-8.5 lbs. loaded on the crappy bathroom scale. I’m thinking of just changing the sling attachment points and maybe a 12 o’clock light mount.

Anything less than 12 lbs. loaded and not muzzle heavy = pretty light.

I used to hear the same from the 60-gunners while I struggled with that damned 81-mm Mortar bipod!! Then, I would look over the AT guy (M-67 90-mm Recoiless Rifle) and I would feel better. :stuck_out_tongue:

My “SBR” weighs in at 10.5-pounds without the suppressor or a loaded magazine. I wish I can figure out a way to shave some more weight. I am actually considering removing the Aimpoint 3x Magnifier and mount because of this.

This…

FWIW when I got onto the Chinook which took me to my FOB for my second tour in addition to my armor and M4 (with RAS, PEQ2, M951, and TA31), I was carrying enough radios, batteries, ammo (mine and the SAW’s), grenades, and other crap to last a month without resupply. I also had my ballistic computer and tables for my FDC duties. I also had 2 spare uniforms, some drawers and socks, and some hygiene gear. All in all when I stepped on the scale to go on the Chinook it read 402 pounds and I weighed 180 or so at the time.

ETA: Now I really want to know what my LMT weighs. Anyone care to guess? 14.5" Barrel with Vortex, LaRue 7" rail with FUG and KAC pannels, M600C, T1 with LaRue Mount, H buffer, FA carrier group, MIAD, Vickers Sling with DD QD points, and SOPMOD.

The Psychology of doing something out of your own volition is quiet different than doing something that is not necessarily your choice.

Close to what you have listed (H2 buffer…mentioned it because you can’t see it)

8 lbs. 4.4 oz (without the magazine)

S/F,
Jeff

5.8lbs.
