“Robert Gibbs , the White House press secretary… “There are laws that govern firearms that are done state or locally.” he said. “Those laws don’t change when the president comes to your state or locality.”… " Ed Donavan , a spokesman for the Secret Service , said incidents of firearms being carried outside of presidential events are a “relatively new phenomeon .” But he said the president’s safety is not being jeopardized.”
Seems like a good way to handle open carry , just ignore it until it goes away.
Imagine what would have happened back during the first year of the Clintons’ reign.
I think the lefties are trying to turn down the heat . They finally got it that gun control will be a loser issue for at least a couple of years.
Of course , whenever they think we are all asleep and they can get away with it.
The gun-grabbers get to be as stupid as they want to be. We get to calm down and be ready for the next round.
If you don’t like the reviews, change the conversation. This was a wise move on the part of the WH Press Officer. They are choosing to agree with their enemy in an effort to lull us to sleep.
Now, one would imagine it will be some time before Nobama makes it back to AZ. The town hall meetings were a completely controlled and staged farce in the first place. Nobama should encounter the same peaceful protest in Montana, Pennsylvania, Virginia, etc. – you get the idea.
The smart move is to keep the heat on – but keep the peace, too. This will only cool off if we let it – and simply, speaking for me at least, I am very weary of all the legislative attacks on those of us who have NOT committed any crimes.
They are liars to the core – and we would be foolish to forget that…
IMO, these OC protesters would be more effective and more confusing to the gun prohibitionists and newsies by going to empty holsters and carrying slung uppers. And , of course , staying a long distance from the POTUS.
They’re not abandoning a damn thing. Let me lay out a scenario for you:
A lot of people are (rightfully) pissed about the “health care reform” bullshit they’re trying to cram through to nationalize our medical system. Some of their recent actions there are just like their gun-control waffling - saying this, that, and the other thing, and pretending to back away from a public option or denying that such is their desired end state… but it’s nonsense. It is also very ironic, because both of these subjects they keep trying to BS gullible people about are related.
What many either don’t know or forget is that they’ve already signed into law a lot of the infrastructure for it - in the last stimulus bill.
Specifically, there are sections making it mandatory to switch to electronic medical record keeping, digitize existing records, and provide all such records to several new centralized government bureaucracies. Digitizing is one thing, but the main purpose of the centralization is to allow other new agencies and panels and assorted BS groups to “review” and “evaluate” how doctors are treating people - and to take action if they do not agree with the courses of treatment, including, possibly, levying fines for “inefficient” or “uneccessary” treatments.
There is also another side benefit (for them) to this database - they can run NICS checks against the medical database. Ever have any kind of counseling? You a veteran, or emergency services? Ever have marriage trouble?
Too late , people won’t buy it.
The Firearms Freedom Act could make it impossible for the gun prohibitionists to turn down the heat.
Looks like some gunowners in Montana , Tennessee and up to 25 other states are getting ready for the next round: www.saf.org/viewpr-new.asp?id=302
Tennessee and Montana have already passed a Firearms Freedom Act . Clones have been introduced in Alaska , Texas , Florida , South Carolina , Michigan , and Minnesota. Elected officials in 19 other states have pledged to introduce clone bills.
It only so the weapons can be available for the administrations new national security force. You know, Americore, New Black Panthers, etc. Those who swear their allegiance to the office of the President, not the Constitution. You know, like the SS to the Fuhrer.
Anybody check out Beck on Fox this week. It is pleasant and calming…
my thoughts exactly !!!
and when the conservative types are deamed as a threat they will single us out as not fit to have guns under some law they come up with ?
arrest us under suspicion of being in a militia of some kind and then cause we were arrested under that “Militia” some HS ruling will make all our rights go away !!!
paranoid thoughts ? maybe ? but I dont trust the gov at all
But , like the old Pat Benatuar song said , “It’s a little too little , it’s a little too late.”
“Experts See Double-Digit Dem Losses” in the next Congressional Elections.
It’s still early in the game , but the party in power is already in trouble – the big question is how much trouble. The best way for individual Dem’s in Congress to survive the next election is to go against the senior party leadership. That how it worked during the 1994 massacre. Dems who voted against gun control -And- stupid budgets had a chance of keeping their jobs.
Oh I didn’t say it was sincere or that it marks any long-term shift in strategy or goal.
Merely that if they made a big deal out of this case and accused these people with the same excess as MSNBC et al. they’d be in a far worse political situation.
You don’t have to be a rocket (or political) scientist to step out of the way of a metaphorical speeding bullet. They just seem to be learning when NOT to respond.
My thoughts exactly. They hope(mostly with success) that people will read or hear that and believe it. Then once complacency sets in they blindside you
