Wanted: M-LOK light mount for my application .

I have an ALG EMR M-LOK V2 on my BCM mid length .

I really like this rail overall with one exception -
I need to mount a light on it .
A surefire light .

Problem is that the ALG V2 has M-LOK attachment points at
the 2,4,6,8, and 10 O’clock positions .
There are NO attachment points at 3 or 9 O’clock .

I thought that this would be easy - I’ll just buy
a Magpul cantilever mount and pic which side feels more comfortable
with my hands and a thumb break grip .
I’ve got a Magpul M-LOK MVG on their now and it feels great .

Now the problem- the Magpul cantilever mount I got feels-
NOT so great .
The distance between my hand guard and where the light rings
that hold the Surefire start is right at an inch .
With just about any standard close to 1 inch thick
Surefire light , that makes the reach to the center of the switch
of a Surefire at around 1 and 1/2 inches from the hand guard .

The hand guard itself is only 1 and 3/4 inches in diameter .

Maybe I just have Japanese school girl hands or something but-
that reach towards that switch seems excessive .
VERY excessive considering the idea is to stay slim and light .
I’d have to change my grip to reach out that far .
It feels like I have an airplane wing with an engine on one side .

I think I’ll be returning the light mount if they’ll even take it .
I’m open to the idea that I’m doing it all wrong if a suggestion works .

I’m planning to change all 3 of my ARs to this rail if I can figure it out .

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance .

Is 12’ o’clock mounting an option? There is always this: http://roschworks.com/SL1.php, since it’s limited space on the ALG V2

Thanks for the suggestion and the link , but I’m trying to avoid a 12 O’Clock mount .

The spot on the EMR M-LOK V2 closest to the short front
Picatinny rail is right where my hand goes for the thumb break grip .
On the short rail itself is a Troy front folding BUIS .

I’m also trying to stay with a mount that will work with common
1 inch wide lights such as Surefire .

I plan on standardizing 3 ARs to this set up . The only missing piece is
a light mount .

Check out Arisaka.

Arisaka is the way to go for you. I think they are still working on the inline ring mount. You might check in with them for an ETA. Here is their M-LOK inline scout mount.

I believe the Arisaka 1" inline is what you’re looking for, and since we know it’s on the way I’d hold out for it.

I’ve got a hand guard or four I want to use them on myself…

Walt and I really appreciate the mention. Thanks guys!

Markm will have one of the prototypes tomorrow. I imagine he’ll drop a pic or two and give some feedback. While his is keymod, we’ll also be releasing them for m-lok at the same time.

Thanks for the suggestions all .

I just checked out the Arisaka thread .

I’ll probably be ordering theirs once available .

In the meantime I might just take a small M-lok
rail section and zip tie my light right to it .
( after drilling some slots in it )
I’m kind of surprised Magpul didn’t just come out with a simpler
mount before M-lok was released .
Something like just a flatter aluminum V-Block with a split ring that
went through it with a screw accessible underneath and had
openings to directly mount it with M-lok .
That way you could just M-Lok it on the rail and then feed the
split ring through it . Insert light and tighten screw under the ring/ rings .

That seems so simple , but I’m not an engineer or a manufacturer .
