I got my hands on the SOLGW MK1 and I have to say just by handling it I was impressed. It’s light and its tight and from everything I’ve seen its insanely accurate. My dilemma is I don’t need another AR but I think I really want this one. In my collection I’ve got a KAC SR-15 Mod 2 that I like to use for shooting at distance since I have an LPVO for it, HK MR556 A4 11”, an LMT SPECWAR (it’s in process. I decided to start a build after selling off some parts from the original LMT build I made), and I have a Colt M4A1 Block II clone that I have never shot. I bought it for the collector value and was going to give that to my son when he was older (but then again I’m just going to give him everything I have eventually anyway). I know “No sell, only buy” but I can’t really justify having this many ARs. Which if any of these rifles would you part with if you had to ?
I’d start with whichever one you use the least.
The KAC or HK gots to go. But that’s if you can make the SOLEKJFWOPJ (whatever) fill one of their roles.
I could fill the HKs role but that’s a hard one to let go. That rifle has served me well. It also hosts an RC2. It’s probably my favorite AR and it sits at the front of my safe because its my current go to. But that could always change.
Buy yourself a shot timer, select a variety of drills to shoot.
Run them all for time once you’re warmed up so none of them get an unfair grade. Best time and points score wins.
Then run them across an unknown distance (if possible) course for basic rifle marksmanship. Again scored with targets that have scoring rings if possible. Shooting steel is also acceptable. Best score wins. If you’re shooting steel it may require a timer or be judged by number of shots it takes to get an impact.
Inevitability one of them will be in last place, and it can find a new home.
I don’t really think the SOLGW rifle is going to magically be any better than the other 4, but you do you.
You have one gun that’s never been shot. It’s also arguably the easiest to replace. Seems straightforward to me.
I would just keep it, don’t replace anything, but when you say that you’ve got a gun that has never been shot that boggles my mind, thats kinda the purpose of the thing, maybe this is why I’m not a classic car guy because I want a fun car that’s a driver as well as one I can look at, I don’t need a 0 Mileage Steve McQueen Mustang from Bullitt just sitting there, I want to take that out and see what it can do
Isn’t there some kind of controversy surrounding the civilian MK1 and the SOCOM version?
