Well… as mentioned in another thread, I purchased one of the Noveske custom engraved ejection port doors. Went to swap them out today, on my MUR upper receiver, and realized that in order to obtain access to the c-clip and remove it… one must apparently first remove the F/A unit from the upper. Joy!
Now, the pin that runs top to bottom (and actually holds the F/A assembly in place) is no problem to remove. Drive it out with a punch, as normal. But the problem I’m having is the pin that runs perpendicular – left to right – through the F/A unit and upper. The pin won’t budge… and I’m not trying to wail on it, without knowing if there’s a trick to this. It appears that it will only remove, by driving it from the inside out (which would be a PITA in itself).
Has anyone, that owns a MUR, tried removing this unit themselves? Is this something that VLTOR can/should only remove?
This is annoying, to say the least. On a normal upper, this would fall into the easy/routine maintenance category. Having it buried under the additional assembly is aggravating.
Any help in this would be greatly appreciated. I have an email into VLTOR, explaining the issue and asking for guidance… just awaiting their reply.
Thanks!
