The advantage of the top rail on the CASV-M is not so much the height, but the continuity. This will allow you to mount the optic farther forward without needing the extended Larue mount (the LT139, the SPR-EER). On a standard flattop it’s needed to put the Accupoint far enough forward for the proper eye relief. With the continuous rail you could use the standard SPR mount (LT 104) or with the slightly elevated rail, might even look into the LT-158 which is a lower SPR mount (I think it’s new). I’m not sure if that one would work, or properly clear the eyepiece, so I’d talk to them directly about that application. It might keep the optic’s height over bore close to what it would be in a standard mount on a standard rail and keep your cheek weld/eye aligment where you’d want it. Disclaimer: That’s just a speculative thought on my part, so verify it with someone with firsthand knowledge before going that route! It might be way too low.
Aside from that, the Larue mount’s advantage is also more than just getting the optic at a proper height, it is also a matter of reliable, repeatable-zero quick-detach ability.
I’d also look into the ADM mounts. Bobro may make something suitable, but I haven’t seen it.
Specific to your questions:
1.) If you do think i don’t need the Larue… what mount/rings should i get for the Accupoint???
Get one of the Larues (or ADMs).
2.) I have a CASV-M as a rail… and (probably have) the TROY front and rear BUIS… will it co-witness because i wont be using the Larue mount??
Troy rear BUIS good. But how are you going to mount the Troy front BUIS with the CASV-M? The rear will mount behind the CASV-M on the upper. The front won’t be at the right height to mount on the CASV-M’s rail. Are you putting on a mid-length gas system with a railed gas block, or a carbine system with low pro gas block? There is a front sight assembly designed to work solely with the CASV-M. I’d recommend checking it out, depending on your setup.
Without knowing your intended configuration, this raises a red flag. You may have it figured out, but do yourself a favor and double check to make sure it’s squared away. Hate to get your parts in and nothing work right together…
Oh, and with the TR-21 accupoints, don’t worry about co-witness. You won’t be able to use your irons through the optic very well, remember it isn’t a true 1x, only 1.25x. Your front sight will be funky through it. This is why one of the QD mounts will be nice to have – if the optic goes down, or you just want to practice with your irons, it can be removed and replaced quickly and easily and return to zero.
3.) Is the new Accupoint worth the wait??
If you haven’t bought yet, it might be - it’s very close. Depends on your needs. I’d at least wait till reports from SHOT next week, let a few more people get their hands on one, and then decide for yourself if the new features are worth the wait (and extra cost).
4.) I had trouble deciding between the Accupoint TR21-3 and Nightforce NSX… is Nightforce really that worth it?? Twice… almost the price…
Not sure, no experience with the NF optic.
Hope that helps.
