Local shop has a consigned BCM 14.5" rifle with Midwest Industries rail for $1000. Looking at it, it does look to be shot but not much, as the only “wear” I could see are on the buffer tube and on the muzzle break. The bolt carrier group looks to be like new as is the outside cosmetic condition. I have a 18" “long range” AR that I use for predator hunting so I was looking at a more general purpose AR. I really liked the weight of this BCM. My other rifle is a bit heavy so it gets regulated to stationary shooting.
Good deal or pass? The only other option I was looking at was a new Colt LE6920SOCOM 16" for about $1400 plus tax.
What MI rail is on the rifle? What muzzle device is on it? Carbine or Middy?
Just doing some fast and dirty math and calculating a blem lower from Grant and an a complete upper from BCM with an MI rail, with CH and BCG you are looking at a little over a grand, around $1150 or so, by my math, for a new rifle. So used… I’d likely pass personally. Not a big enough difference to go used for me, and buying new for a little more you could pick and choose your options. This is me though.

Grant has 6720s(LW barrel models) for $799: http://www.gandrtactical.com/cgi-bin/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=6720 So yes, if you are looking for light weight, you can do so cheaper. Not that CDNN is a bad place to shop, have bought several guns from them, but if you are looking for colt, cheap, and want light weight the $799 for the 6720 is hard to beat.
For a GP carbine, look no further than the Colt 6920 OEM-1/2. Can be had for under $700 shipped. Another option is a $799 Colt 6720. Both of these are light, GTG GP carbines. Again, look no further.
For being a used in a gun in a LGS, maybe not a horrible price, and if you can verify it is a complete factory BCM, then not the worst purchase that could be made, as you know its quality and BCM will stand by it. On the other hand, I would spend the small amount more it would take to get a new BCM KMR ELW upper and a complete lower.
